Don't bother calling! I've been waiting for over an hour after someone told me they're doing paper and still hasn't awnsered.
Steven Shelton
Very friendly staff
Splash Patrick
I really couldn't tell you how their services are once you arrive all I can say is I've called three times and each time I've been waiting in queue as the number one next caller for more than 15 minutes each time and nobody ended up picking up the phone so I've had no way of speaking to any of the professionals about my animals

the way the cats are taken care of is just amazing, i haven’t seen the dog kennels before but i love how they treat their cats. my only concern is that it is extremely hard to adopt any animal. application first, then constantly calling for updates, and never are qualified enough to adopt? that’s weird, as if they WANT to euthanize these animals.

You call the Washington county humane society . They take you're information and you decide if you want the voucher mailed to you or sent by email to you then you print it off. They'll ask you to choose which participating veterinarian clinic you wish to use. It's easy & they are very kind .
You can call, go by the shelter and look (do this frequently) or even go there and fill out a book they have, where people with specific adoption wants/needs can write thier info and what they are seeking.
If the dog was picked up at your home u can call and if it was your dog it probably wasn't cost u anything. Also u can look on website and see if it's there. Good luck
If you're lucky, you can catch exotic rats in the "exotic pets" room. It's a lot smaller than the dog and cat areas, and sometimes there's only one animal in there. But if you're dead set on getting a rat from there, I'm sure if you pop in frequently enough you'll find one.
No they DO NOT have kennels outside to place animals for when they are closed.
Margaret B. Mitchell spay/neuter clinic. And Animal defense. Margaret B. Mitchell does it for I think 15$ if u have multiple pets it's cheaper.
Good luck getting them to answer the phone. This is the ONLY negative thing I have to say about this place. Try FB Messenger.
right now they are very full. But they would still take them.
Adoption Fee For Adult Dogs $ 110 Spaying/Neutering Bordetella, Distemper and Parvo vaccines Deworming if necessary Microchip with lifetime registration
Yes
Yes they take in strays at back of building where the sign says INTAKE. They give them shots and check them over before offering for adoption. Well run facility.
Call the shelter directly to find out. They will tell you.
You need to call the shelter
My daughter and her 11 yr old friend volunteer there but one of us parents have to be there.
I seen a case in core where the neighbor had a bunch of roosters and they crows every morning and this person had worked the early late night early mornings and come home and just fall asleep and they literally won their case you can sue them for the noise ordinance but we're at if you can prove you have a night job if you don't have a night job and you just stay up. Try going to bed early.. But they should mussle the nose to where the loudness isn't excessive...
I don't know really but I think it's 100 buck if they do it at all but they can probably tell you who does if they don't
They are currently adopting cats for only $10 which is very reasonable. If one can't afford that, they probably can't afford to own a cat and give it proper vet care.
Yes
You could call the shelter and check. I know when we adopted they offered a chip that can be scanned to identify the pet. It's possible the cat has one implanted.
If they are wild rabbits I don't think our animal control can do anything about it, that would be something you would have to contact fish and game about. However if they are domesticated rabbits we would take them
Call them to check on your animal and make up a time where you can come and pick him/her up
Yes, you can actually contact the Humane Society that is located on West Walnut which is the Old Jonesborough Highway at the intersection taking a right at the light coming from the JCMC which is right before going to Kroger's Grocery Store.
Yes & they also have a chip placed in them.
Donna did you find somewhere to take them?
Yes they would certainly take him but it would be best if you make an appointment call them ahead of time so they all have room and you do have to provide your ID to turn him in
They are letting people go in on an appointment only so you need to call them to set up a date.
Due to the pandemic, both snimal shelter and humane society are using online applications and scheduling visits.
Yes
You can submit an application and you will receive an email once you're approved to set an appointment time to go select your new forever friend.
Check their facebook page. I adopted there last week and was told approx 80 dogs are currently cared for at the facility. They also had adorable cats and kittens!
Take it to a local vet/animal shelter and have it scanned to see if it's microchipped.
I don't recommend this place at all for no reason. Go to another shelter. Because they did a audit on this place and found some money that was not counted for and quess what nothing else was said about it....mmmm I wonder where it was going in which managers pocket that supposed to be a good citizen of the city and county...sssshhhh
You could send the shelter a email and maybe they can give you suggestions.
I was going to say the Same as Sharon. They do have them occasionally.
This is something you call and ask about. You don't ask this on Google.
Washington county only
The best thing to do would be to have someone take you to the shelter and ask in person. Unless you can get ahold of them by phone.
No. We adopted in November and Daisy is an inside dog.
You'd have to go there to find out. Hardly get thru on the phone
Food collars leashes money etc they accept any help they can get
As far as i am aware of service pets aren't given away by the shelter they re general purpose from my understanding is to find homes for abandoned or stray pets how ever as before mentioned if they do have trained service pets the beat way to go about finding that out would be to call the shelter itself you can find the number and business hours via Google, if they don't provide service animals I'm sure they can pint you In the right direction if the clerk that answers the phone doesn't give you the answer your looking for i suggest asking to speak to someone else such as the supervisor or manager but they are very kind people so I wouldn't anticipate any problems.i also am interested in the exact answer to the question so if you wouldn't mind please let us know what you find out, sorry I couldn't be of more help if they were open right now I would call myself and find out what I could for you
They really care about the pets they have in their care. Not sure if they are opened this saturday but you can either go there, call, or visit the facebook page to see information about the one your looking at
I wouldn't think so
Can animal control pick up dogs
just type in Washington county animal shelter..they have pics of them on there..that's where I found my Lexi
Yes
I got my Lexi girl there for $35
Have you tried a shelter and see if they may possibly donated some food
Not sure usually phone lines up and working
did you get ahold of them? if not I'd go there..she wasnt fixed before you got her?
It is not a no kill animal shelter and they only have good size cages for dogs and they do have a room you can take the dogs and visit with them. The Bridge No Kill Animal Rescue is in Blountville on hwy 75
Your best bet would be to contact the shelter to find out if they had one they have a wide variety of animals
Im truly not sure if they do but give them a call and check out there web page. They open at 1 today.
When we adopted our kitten, they arranged the whole thing before we even brought her home.
I believe they have traps to catch them. Then they are "sterilized ". Sometimes the public can get them for zero cost to use as rat catchers on farms.
Since they are Foster kittens I would take them back to the shelter or contact the shelter you got them from for medical attention
The dog was not mine , the guy who lives behind me was threatening to kill him, I thought I was doing a good thing.
I'd assume for thorough cleaning. Has to be done!
I have adopted both a cat and dog from them. It is an excellent shelter. I would go by there (don't call) and ask for the shelter director. I think her name is Tammy. I would explain the situation to her and see what options they can give you. There is also Wash.Co. humane society that might could help you also. I pray you get help.
Look it up on google first than ask me if u have anymore questions but it should be on google
Yes just call them and give description and name,. Also call other shelters in area too. Best wishes for its return
They do just call them it is great place for that too thanks
No and you have to call and get appointment to take in animals they work hard here and they really care about them alot thanks
I found that the website isn't updated all that often. But they have loads of dogs some different almost everyday. They have lots of very athletic ones!
No
No you don't usually have to call. However, I would because I know last week they closed intake due to being full.
There were a couple smaller dogs (chihuahua mixes), but I dont know about puppies
Washington county animal shelter, johnson city, tn
First you call the Washington County Humane Society and get yourself a voucher for Northridge Veterinary office
Check out the Rover app also.
U can take them in anytime u don't have to call they have a drop off office there
It depends on if the animal is already fixed or not. If the animal is fixed I do believe the price is lower and yes you do have to go there and look cause I believe there web page doesn't have all the animals listed There is a good chance of getting a German shepherd or a blood hound my daughter got a full blooded blood hound from there about 1 year old
They are a rescue group. They wouldn't euthanize an animal.
You need to call or go by the shelter. You could also check the website they often have updated pictures of the animals they have available
Please do!!! You fill out a simple application and walk dogs, pet cats or dogs. Volunteers needing. They open at 1pm every day but Wednesday.
I need to know to turn in my community service. I have already done it
Call the shelter at 926-8769 with an address. They will send an animal control officer out to check conditions
There may be something wrong with the dog "ie. Pain." Cause dogs don't generally bark for no reason...I would try to check on the dog maybe ask ur neighbor if it's ok and if you have to call the Animal Shelter
I'm not sure of any age barrier to walk them there, but I know they need and love when people volunteer their time to walk the dogs. Give them a call, but check their hours. They're not your usual hours for a 'store' so to speak.
Not that i am aware of but you never know what they have till you call and ask
You need to contact the shelter while they are open.
Not sure. I know they have been shut down for the recent parvo outbreak.
Right now they would appreciate any. They had to get rid of alot of towels and toys and blankets due to a parvo outbreak and are currently shut down til the 28.
I am not this person but if you call them and explain they will probably work with you/the veteran. They have taken in dogs for vets in hospitals etc before.
Just curious- why were you calling if you were close enough to know there was barely anyone there? I do know they rely alot on volunteers and may have staffing problems as a result!
Get a 3 year for around $17.00 at tractor supply Jonesborough tomorrow . If i am not mistaken it starts at 1:30 pm on sundays and on saturdays on bristol hwy tractors supply . The people who do this are very knowledgeable in the pet vet field
Awesome shelter. They do not kill. Take care of the babies and the place is beautiful.
I believe that they will contact you. They hold onto them for a couple of days to make sure that everything is ok with the animal before allowing them to go home with someone.
You need to call the shelter
You could take her to the Washington County animal shelter on North Roan and they'll take her there
I'm sorry to hear about that. I'm not with the shelter I would suggest to call them directly. 926-8769. Good luck they open at 1pm on Friday's.
I can't say for sure but I would say you would need some pictures to prove the dog is yours and some way to show that you will now be able to keep him. Maybe a lease showing animals are allowed? Good luck.
I called and as long as you live in Washington County you just take to shelter and tell them you can't take care of it anymore. Or.... If you need help and want to keep it, they offer low income assistance with food and supplies thru the Humane Society. 😉
They don't they will only pick up cats and dogs and exotic pets like bunnies
Those are the correct times 1-6pm
Please call the number listed above. We can't answer questions like this.
Please call we dont have the type of information only about the specific businesses
The Washington co. Shelter is a no kill shelter, unless it is a serious life-threatening medical condition that could not be fixed by surgery. "Act quickly" normally means the animal is popular for adoption or also means it is an animal that has been dropped off and is not used to enclosed spaces and being alone; which could change the demeanor of the animal... Once loving and playful slowly becoming shy and depressed....
Call Animal Control at the shelter and let them know about the situation
Due to disease, injury and illness, no shelter is truly a "no kill shelter" Different stipulations, numbers, andand statistics allow a shelter to claim to be a no kill shelter. If the shelter has no choice in what animals it can accept, then I truly doubt it is a so called "no kill shelter"
Have you tried to open the web page ?
The staff is great..the women who decides if you can even adopt is a total snob.
I adopted a cat two weeks ago and it was only $25. When I had him neutered there was only a $10 fee for a rabies shot. I was told the fees were lower because they had so many cats so this might not be the case all the time. Sometimes someone sponsors an animal and pays some of the fees.
It varies, most of the time it's $35. I've adopted for $15, $35 and $60. Depending on how crowded they are and spay and neuter. This week all dogs > 6mon are $35
Have you lost your dog or just wondering?
When i adopted my dog they sent him to jonesborough animal clinic to gey neutered and i picked him uo the clinic even wormed him gave him all his vaccinations and blood work and now 8 years later we still go there cause every thing is half price for him becsuse he is a rescue.. I would definitely recommend going through them to get ur next best friend however they do have guidelines for bully breds... A good fence and they will come check it i know becuse i got a ouooy pitbull from there hes my best friend and was one of the happiest days of my life and the volunteer vets are great they really care not just about money either they care about your pet...good luck my friend
I have personally been in your shoes. I live in Johnson City so I called the Humane Society. They had me come by and pick up a voucher that had the time, date, and the name of the place to take my dog. They were super friendly and it was completely free. Hope this was helpful!
Washington County Humane Society
Volunteer fire department needs help a lot of times.
I’d say they’re long gone..... Do you have specs?
