Amy and I had an overall great time biking the McDade Trail along the Delaware Water Gap! The weather was perfect today. Make sure that, if you're biking to note that you're on a bike-friendly part of the trail. Sometimes the hikers' trail is a bit more precarious then a bike would prefer and beyond what most COULD do (and we ARE also mountain bikers). This was a gravel ride for us and would say that it is largely doable as such. Any minor trouble we got ourselves into was likely our doing and not heeding the "suggestions" of the signage. Great experience and the fall colors were a real bonus! Also, two rather massive bald eagles were right along the trail. Alas my camera only caught the one though.

Beautiful during the fall. 🍂

Dogs are allowed in most areas of the park. They ARE NOT PERMITTED in the beach areas. The areas where pets are NOT PERMITTED are : Smithfield and Milford Beach between Memorial Day and Labor Day Raymondskill Falls and Dingmans Falls George W. Childs Park Valley View Group Campsites Hidden Lake Hialeah Picnic Area McDade Trail from milepost 1.0 to milepost 2.5 (from June 1 to September 8). Just read the National Parks Service website, people.
There are countless places for picinics. I'm unsure about archery.
Backpacking is allowed along the Appalachian Trail which runs through the park. Check ahead where you plan to camp as some sections are closed to camping.
The water does flow all year, march to April thaw are very beautiful
The park offers several different types of campsites: Developed Campgrounds, offering tent and RV sites, some with electric and water hookups. Group Campsites, primative sites suitable for large groups. Backcountry Camping for hikers on the Appalachian Trail
Road is there but the houses are all gone. You can drive back to the lake on the dirt/gravel road.
Definatly get a mountain bike a road bike would be fine by buttermilk falls trail or on old mine road anywhere else your gunna get hurt i tried it and broke my bike now i ride a mountain bike

Yes you can.. But...if your on the national park service land you can not dig.. Plants must be un disturbed.. I got a 50 fine for pulling up plants..
It depends on the trail you use and the type of stroller you have. The McDade trail is just fine for any type of jogging stroller.
Are you looking to walk on the appalachian trail. Or just kind of hang out at an overlook/rest area? If you want to walk the trail with a stroller you if go main st to 611 to Shepard ave there is parking there and you could walk to the top of the mtn there fairly easily. Or you follow 611 further down to point of the Gap there is a rest stop with a small pavilion you can hang at. Not alot a baby can do, but depending on how old and your energy level. Hope this helps. There is a nice restaurant there in town, Sycamore Grill, it's a nice place to grab a bite to eat and maybe a drink. Its casual dining. Good food. I dont think there any parks with activities for babies though. Yeah you could do a nice short walk there. If you continue down 611 there are a Couple areas you can pull over and sight see. It's a perfect time of year for it. Hope this help a little more. Enjoy your day
Parking lots at the trail head
Yes it's allow but you need know the area where to go. Poconosmountains.com
It depends on the area but yes, you can SCUBA in the Delaware River. I have done it and you gotta watch the currents.
For cars, bikes, hikes, or what. Nothing for ATVs or Cars, other than old back roads.
I would recommend the Kugler Woods preserve. Insanely beautiful streams and waterfall. You and your dog will love it.
You can also walk on the carriage trails on the PA side just up the road from the Deerhead Inn.
Yes, it may be past peak foliage, but still a lot to see and do.
Mohican outdoor center in Nj
Yes, there are MANY picnic areas throughout the park. As you drive you will see many posted signs. No grilling, though. Lots of picnic tables and beautiful views. Enjoy!
Yes, there are areas that you can swim in. The exit off Rt. 80 there is an information center and a beach. Water is still high right now, please be safe.
The area is huge. The beach is right off Rt 80, but there are many trails in that area. There are water falls that extend from that area all through East Stroudsburg, Marshall's Creek, Bushkill Falls and Dingmans. The falls and trails are abundant and so much to see. If you enjoy a good hike research Marshall's Falls as well, right along the area, but definitely a hidden gem. Enjoy and be safe.
Hi, there are motels and hotels in Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg, Bartonsville, Bushkill, Dingmans Ferry and Milford. There are many hiking trails, water falls and scenic areas. I also believe the Bushkill Conference Center is a place where you can stay and they are located across the street from Bushkill Falls. Enjoy
There are pinic areas with picnic tables in several spots throughout the park. There is a large picnic pavilion at the Milford Beach picnic area / swim beach just outside Milford PA
Yes but they are not open space areas. Lots of surrounding trees and mountains.
What waterfall. From Canada
At the Water Gap, itself? No. At the parking spots around the Gap, it's possible. Depends on the parking lot. You need to ask a more specific question for a better answer.
Yes, of course, if you can grill.
If you can swim and fish
If you get there early enough you can find a spot to fit your RV, not too sure if overnight stay is allowed.
You should be able to use them on the McDade Trail. That is an easy walking, biking, jogging trail. It's relatively flat and the motors won't stress themselves. Other trails will be too hard for it. Keep in mind that if the battery dies or it short circuits, you'll need to carry it back to your car. This could be difficult to do. I would simply advise you to leave it home.
Take last exit off rt 80 to your right, get to the entrance where the traffic light is, kepp on going straight ahead, whatch the potholes!! Pass turtle beach at your left, keep on going and watch for the post with number 10,once you see it there is a parking lot with a bathroom at your left hand, leave your car there and go across the road, walk straight up the mountain and keep following the river along the way untill you see the waterfall, it is about 1/2 hour hike from the parking lot .
From the top on the nj side
The entire recreation area is referred to as the water gap
Dingmans falls is free.. no parking fees. A lovely safe hike. Visit the beautiful village of Milford. Lots of groomed trails.
It is in some place along the river. There are some gast moving water in places also
Yeah, but you need a proper license.
Most likely the pendot web site holds such information.
Call the park office to find out where they allow Barbecues. Most of the park doesn't have areas for it.
How much is what? There are a variety of events and attractions across the water gap. All ranging from free -$300+.
there are 2 designated swim beaches in the area we saw as we were driving from Shawnee on Delaware towards Milford
There is hunting in the national area of the park, i believe. Would probably be seasonal and regulated. Jersey side has a few acres of worthing state forest where firearms are NOT allowed. Would further inquire with local authorities.
Yes and yes. Check out Van Campens Glen.
Yes there are campgrounds all around bushkill falls
They are not permitted on all the roads, only designated areas.
Yes take Rt 209 north to Digmans bridge entrance. Canoe rentals/transportion available.in state of P.a.. In state of ny go to matamorrise. Canoe kittatinny rentals. Off Of highway Rt 209.
Yes it's easy to get to and it is a very Scenic ride. There are lots of interesting stops too.
I am not sure either I just hiked the Appalachian trail
Any of the local hotels budget/ super 8,google the area.
No! Unfortunately fire is not allowed. But there are picnic tables
As has been suggested, there are a number of places to start. If you want a nice hike Google Sunfish Pond.
There's a boardwalk that starts at a Ranger station on River Road. I forget the town. It might be Bushkill. The address above might be the address for the ranger station but I can't double-check now. There's lots of parking at the ranger station and there's a small museum inside.
Of course, call and reserve to be assigned a serca
Kittatinny point visitor center Exit 1, Route 80 West Columbia, NJ 07832 Dingmans falls visitor center PA State Route 209 & Johnny Bee Road Dingmans Ferry, PA 18328
Yes! There are "recreational" areas that are like lakes/beaches
There are some designated areas where they are allowed and some where they have charcoal grills or fire pits setup already.
Parts of the park are closed from storm damage. Check the website. They are slowly getting parts open as trees are cleared.
There is a lot of boat renting. All in that area. Not necessarily at the park though. Google Delaware Water Gap boat rental and you'll get several rental places right in the area.
Worthington State park. But I believe they close camping during the winter.
If you are referring to Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, it's mostly in Pike county, but there is a section in Monroe county and (I think) Northampton. If you are talking about Delaware Water Gap, the town, it's in Monroe County, on the southern edge of the park.
Look up Bushkill Falls on Google maps. From River Road in the town of Bushkill follow Bushkill Falls Rd 1.7 miles, and it will be on the left
