We really enjoyed our visit here. The lake is the prettiest lake I have ever seen. We spent a day here. The park is fairly small compared to others we have been to, but the lake and forest around it go on a long way. The lake from end to end is 36 miles according to a state park intrepter. There are two beaches. One by the marina and one by Three Sisters Springs called Spring Beach. Our favorite was Spring Beach. The views were amazing. The water was clear and cool and it had a sandy, inclined beach, They also have picnic tables in the shade by the parking lot and a port o potty if you need to use the bathroom. Three sisters springs is also located there. Our kids enjoyed seeing that wonder of nature. We rented paddle boats for $6 an hour. They were very well maintained and can hold 4 people. The staff at the marina are very friendly and helpful. Later in the day we took a Bird Island Tour. It sounds kind of cringy, but it was an amazing experience. It is a two hour sunset tour around the lake to bird island where you will see an incredible amount of birds. Right now Purple Martin's are nesting there. I have never seen that many birds in my life. We all loved it. There are two hiking trails in the park. We did Dogwood Trail, 0.5 miles long. It was moderately strenuous. You go uphill for what seems like forever. Our kids ages 6-15 did fine with it. It was really pretty. There is another trail called Caddo Trail, it is 4 miles long. We did not take it as it is considered strenuous for hikers. I've heard it has great views though. Overall, great, clean park. We would definitely go back.

It was extremely beautiful to take the family out and to have time for just us and nature. We went in mid Nov. pretty chilly but it was worth it. Even with all the mishaps we had with our tent and air mattress all that is just funny memories. Prices was cheaper and fair for camping versus other places and the bath houses where very nice and for the most part really clean. Even had the chance to do the Eagle tour which was out ON the lake in their bigger pontoon boats. That was alot of fun and definitely worth it.. We'll definitely go again especially when it warms up again.

I had an awesome time with the wife on our stay there. We were in the tents area and we couldn’t have picked a better spot! It was breezy and we had zero mosquito and other bug problems all night! Very peaceful and nice people around the site. Bathroom/showers are very clean too. They do supply some fire wood, lighters, lighter fluid, and other light camping supplies at their visitors building in case you forgot something but you’ll have to buy them. Highly recommend to people looking for a nice weekend of camping.

We stayed at the walk-in tent sites and loved it! The peninsula ends at a great viewing place for the sunset. Caught a pretty sunrise one morning. The restroom closest to use was beautiful. Each a self contained unit - commode, sink, and shower. It was even air conditioned and very clean!

The park does not have an entrance fee, day use is free... Which includes our swimming beaches. FYI..We have been very busy this season (double visitation over last year) so we have been closing our beaches once they fill to capacity on weekends. Usually around 11 o'clock, we will allow additional visitors in as people leave.
This is from the state park staff, we do have very nice restrooms and they are clean. If you are staying in the walk-in tent area, in camping area A. They are family-style individual restrooms that are heated. On the other hand if you're staying in camping area D, it is traditional men's and women's sides and not heated. But still very nice and clean. Hot showers; the building itself is not heated it is primarily used during the summer season.
Yes they Just have to be on a leash... No more than 6 feet.
Saw a few snakes in the water but that was a few weeks ago.
There was people taking their boats out to an island and staying and camping and they were parking at their friends campsites but they do have other parking there
Cliff diving is not safe, as a Park Ranger I get asked this question a lot, it is my job to keep you safe, so I am not going to direct you toward any dangerous activities. With that being said the lake is clean and beautiful and you're welcome to come enjoy it.
Yes if one is available.
Yes
Academy Sports sells a pump that plugs in a vehicle for $10.
The cabins are open for winter. The smaller camping cabins offer fire pits but the larger cabins do not.
Check-in is 3pm I think check out is 11 am
I would think structures would mean tents, but I dont know. We saw a site with a tent and hammock but not lots, but did see how several could be set up cuz there are so many amazing tall pine trees there. We were talking about how we could have had four in a very small space, but that was down in the common area at the edge of the peninsula. I guess I'd call again and ask to speak to a ranger.
Yes. Mine is 15 1/2 x 10. Plenty of room.
Unfortunately all of the hot Springs are part of the National Park Service and are protected. You can enjoy them by looking at them but not actually get in. You are permitted to put your hand or finger and just to see how hot it was but be careful.
Yes you can kayak from island to island
Yes and absolutely gorgeous views... Their site are good sized as well and we'll located.
The roads are paved and I've seen a couple cyclists while I was there.
we do have occasionally a small pop-up or camper van in that camping area; but there are no facilities electric, water, sewer and the parking area is small and narrow. Not really level... It's designed one or two cars to park and a tent on a tent pad. No generators permitted.
No, not unless you know someone there camping and you camp with them..You are allowed 2 tents on a site or 1 r.v and a tent.
Unfortunately we do not have horse riding stables at our park, Lake Catherine State Park to the south does have a horse stables but I'm not sure if they are currently operational under the current health emergency. ? On the other hand if you're asking if you can ride horses through the park..(You bring them) the answer is "no" not really. The park is surrounded by Ouachita national forest and we have had people ride horses in the national forest and occasionally come through the park temporarily just passing through.
Yes campsite has an upright grill and fire pit
This time a year you can experience freshwater jellyfish in the main channel between island 42 and 48. They are semi transparent about the size of 1/2 dollar and just below the surface of the water about 6 inches.
The park does not have an entrance fee and we are open from daylight too dark for day use.
The state park does not reserve kayaks, paddle boats, or canoes. They are on a first-come first-served basis. We only reserve motorboats such as pontoons. Often times, kayaks, canoes and paddle boats rent quickly, and may not be available in the afternoon.
Yes fishing is allowed. I have caught brim and bass.
$15.40 with tax.... That's for site without any electric water or sewer hookups.
Yes our campsites are open year-round and you can make reservations by calling the park at, 1-800-264-2441.
It's fine for a rv depending where your at it can have some semi steep inclines but nothing a good running rv with good brakes can't handle
We have two dog friendly units numbers one and five. Please feel free to give us a call. 1-800-264-2441
Mike unfortunately that was only the second time I visited. So I am not sure of the best camp site. Can tell you that they all look very nice. To reserve I would call the office at the park.
The price may depend on the date. Check out Vrbo.com for some price comparisons
No, our public beaches are open during daylight hours.... And there is no entrance fee.
It is still very clear I was out there over the weekend and was amazed
If it was me I would give them a call 😏
For sure, just go to arkansasstateparks.com to reserve your spot. We really enjoyed our time there, really nice facilities...
Small camper cabins have bunk beds and full bed, small table and chair then a work table also AC. Screen in porch has 2 chairs and coffee table. Outside there is a picnic table, fire ring and water. Bathhouse is nearby. If u click on my logo I have pics of the small cabins on Quachita.😄
40,000 Acres!
Roughly 320 acres. Now that's just the state park leased land. The lake itself which encompasses the Army Corps of Engineers property, is a little over 48,000 depending upon water level.
I don't know if there are ATV trails. There are beautiful hiking trails and the swimming is wonderful there in the lake.
Ranger explained to us there is several organizations that are in charged of different parts of the lake and camp ground. Call visitor center they can answer any questions you may have.
No hookups. We couldn't pick up anything on our Tv not even public broadcasting.
I went in July and there was no entry fee unless you were camping and no boat ramp fee either.
The walk in tent sites have two water faucets and no electric. However, you're right on the water and the nearest bathrooms are the best bathrooms...big with a/c and lots of hot water. They have 12 sites. Sites 1 through 7 are on the No Wake side. The park even has a couple of carts to help you get your camping stuff from your vehicle to the site. Awesome camp grounds!
Check ins are at 4. You can call if the site is vacant. They may let you check in earlier
The do have but you have to make a reservation on their website months in advance, Lake Ouachita is beautiful totally worth it, and there are some activities nearby and Hot Springs is also very close by
You can enter. You need to reserve and pay on the website and screen shot your proof of purchase so you don't get kicked out in the middle of the night. Check in the following morning to get your reservation pass
3:00 is official check in and out time but if the spot you have reserved is empty you can go ahead and set up.
No
I would ask the ranger station
You can find Wi-Fi but not much cell phone network.
Not in the state park. But, there is a rough road, just past Three Sisters, connecting you to the state park, that I have taken, with my jeep, just to explore.
