Had a great time...glad I didn't live in those days!

We stopped by on our way back home to Louisiana. The place was busy with a bunch of people setting up for a festival that was to take place the next day. It is a beautiful place with a ton of historical buildings, however no one told us any information about the place and we ran into many people who worked there. The courthouse was beautiful, we were able to tour on our own without a ticket. Everything else you have to have a ticket to go in and look, which we did not know until we got there, that was disappointing! (Nothing on website states this) Also we had lunch at the restaurant at the park, the waitress was awkward and seemed to not know much about her job or how to do it, we were also told "cash only" after we already ordered our food. My husband had to leave the restaurant to try to find an ATM, an employee told him the gift shop had one, he walked to it just to be told they never had an ATM in there ever! By that time the food was served to our table, he mentioned to the check out lady that there was no ATM in the gift shop, that he will have to leave the park and go to town 10 minutes or so away and find an ATM to be able to pay for our meal. We didn't have any cash which is what caused this whole debacle! The checkout lady seemed to get upset about it, then they start plugging up equipment to be able to take card payments! 🙄 The food was GREAT, the service not so much!! Anyways after all that, I would never go back to visit this park, but the stamp is in my State passport book so I'm good to go. By the way they do the stamps in the Gift Shop which is located in the courthouse. The lady in the gift shop was extremely nice, the only reason there is not less stars!!

Very cool place if you like history. We have traveled all over the USA and seen thousands of cemeteries but this one had something we've never seen. 3 revolutionary War Graves. The blacksmith was awsome and taught us some new tricks to making things out of steel.

You need to check this place out and expect to be there all day. The whole town is a step back into the past. Be sure and go by the blacksmith for a great demonstration. There are also some notable trees that are majestic. The tour guides where very good.

It was held as scheduled. Just chilly and damp through the night...
The open homes and exhibits vary from day to day. You could call or check online to see which homes will be open.
They do normally but presently due to COVID they aren't presently.
+1 870-983-2625 from the website, so it should be current.
It doesn't have a "name", other than the oldest Magnolia Tree in the state.
I would recommend calling them for that information to make sure you get the information you need
Yes. But not a very large selection as of my last visit 2 years ago.
I got someone you can turn to. Call 867-5309 ask for Jenny.
If you call the office, there is a good chance they will let you dry camp in their large parking lot. We have a couple times.
There is camping 30 minutes away at Crater of Diamonds State Park. It is beautiful.
The park is located in Washington, AR in the SW corner of the state. The park is about 10 miles NW from Hope, AR.
This is a historic state park focusing on the 1800s. Throughout the year they offer tours of preserved and replicated homes. There is also a blacksmith forge, a candle shop, a printing press, and a gun museum. Annual events include the Five Trails Frontier Days (February), Shakespeare in the Park (March), the Jonquil Festival (March), Music in the Park (free concerts during the summer months), Civil War Weekend (November), and Christmas and Candlelight (December).
