Quiet park that’s good for easy biking, hiking, walking, bird and wildlife viewing. Fishing is a decent option as well but requires a walk. Facilities are very clean and modern. There’s an abundance of shaded campground sites and plenty of screened shelters.

Very well manicured park with beautiful and easy to navigate trials for hiking or biking. No swimming or fishing spots, but it was really quiet and peaceful with plenty of wildlife. The restrooms were the cleanest we've been to. There was always a Park Host available on the camping loop and they had a watchful eye. Ice and firewood available for a few bucks. Really ideal for the older camping crowd. Stephen F Austin Golf Course borders the Park and it looked AMAZING.

Great place to go camping. They have full hook ups for trailers, tent spots, and cabins you could also stay in. Beautiful trails with so many wild dew berries if you come at the right season. The trails are beautiful, and some off map trails as well. One off map trail can also lead you to the shore of the brazos river, although it's a steep incline, and off map so caution when going off map. Overall had a great experience here with the family. Also the park pass let's you go camping at any Texas state Park for free for one year.

What an awesome state park! I have been to a few state and national parks. This one has been the best so far! Restrooms are extremely well maintained and clean! The staff at the front and patrolling the grounds are friendly. Amazing trails with easy to follow maps. Plenty of parking and campsites available from the looks of it. We were only there for the day. We saw a lot of deer, birds and beautiful views! I will definitely be back

There's a small beach area that you have to go down steep terrain to get to, so not exactly safe. And definitely no swimming.
They will allow you to do so. There are even fire pits, grills, and seating. Bathrooms are near by as well
There's always a possibility of feral hogs in southeast Texas... Any time you go walking in the woods be alert and aware.
Yes. They have recovered from all the flooding and the restroom facilities are in great shape. The tent areas are well maintained and very nice.
There is a river, but pretty good hike from the park. Don't know about kayaking
Yes. There's about 6 miles of trail that is great for moderate to above easy trails
Brazos banks are so muddy, pretty tough to get to. I have never seen the river here due to flood closures of trails.
Brazos river typically changes level quite a bit and has pretty muddy banks. I'd think it would be hard to fish...
The park reopened end of March 2018. Some buildings remain closed but most trails and all campsites and screened shelters are open. Day use areas and most trials are open. As will any park any time, best to call ahead for conditions. Happy Trails!
No you can't, but I don't think I would swim in the river even if they allowed it.
Bought mine online while booking a reservation. Card arrived in mail. Easy.
At times, we have been here since Wednesday, it has not been bad, we also got a mosquito ring you burn, and that has basically eliminated the issue. It cost a dollar for 4 of them at family dollar store, so we just keep them burning with great success.
As lomg as there is no fire ban in place, you can have campfires within the fire ring.. keep in mind thay as this is abstate park, you may not gather any firewood from the park. You can bring your own or buy wood bundles from the park hosts.
The Park Is OPEN! But, some areas / facilities remain unavailable. Not the best, bit much better than the closed indefinitely message.
It seems as though everything is open. We did cub scout camp out here and were able to take a class in the nature center.
The tent sites near the RV sites are also nice. Separate loop near plenty of open areas for sky watching.
Yes. Many trails, lots of deer. Saw a juvenile bobcat. One trail leads to the Brazos River.
I would check with the Park if there is an area designated as an archery range. I didn't see one there 2 weekends ago.
Check the Texas parks and wildlife website. Each individual park has information available. Some parks are indeed closing, others have not.
Yes. Lots of trails and walking paths. And SQUIRRELS !!! (depending on what you think your pet likes)
No
We have our cat in our camper trailer. Pets need to be kept on a leash when outdoors.
Not that I could see even though they don't have places to hang a hammock we saw trees that were close enough and the camp spaces are very large we really like that that Park we would definitely go there again
Noon
When we were there there wasn't much water, and what was there wouldn't be something I would swim in. There are notifications about snakes, etc.
As far as I know it's open year round if u come in late pay in the morning
Most of the trails are closed rt now and they still have it posted no fishing.still a good spot to get away trails are closed😕
Most, if not all of the trails leading to places to fish are closed.
Yes, you don't need to camp, enjoy the Exploring... oh yes, and the Hot Dogs and Schmores, the ones you make of course...
Park is open! GREAT place for the kids. Combat the Nature Deficit Disorder and get them outside. Under 12 are free.
The park is closed due to damage from the hurricane flooding. Look on Texas Parks website for updates. Camping did start at $15 a night.
Some trails are marked no bikes. They are clearly identified and are also marked on the site map available for free in the office at the front gate. When I drove passe there last week they are closed due to the extensive damage from the hurricane Harvey flooding. You may want to call before going.
