DON'T GO HERE WITH DOGS! Warning that there are tons of sand spurs in the grass! There is a sign up on the kiosk warning about them but we didn't see that soon enough. We were going for a nice picnic lunch and some trail walking but ended up going back down to the beach access point to the south. Other than that decent parking, clean restrooms.

We made the mistake of heading north to get to the beach - be warned that it's a considerable hike. There's a creek between the parking lot and the beach that you have to walk all the way around. The Google Maps marked trail and the satellite view of where the creek is are misleading. The creek has shifted much further north than where it appears on the satellite image, which adds much more to the hike than we were expecting. Instead of going north from the parking lot I'd suggest going south, there's a pedestrian bridge across the creek at the end of Heath Rd that takes you over to the beach, it's like 1/4 the distance compared to going north. The obvious benefit of going north is that no one else does, so we had the entire beach to ourselves.

We use the bathroom here on our way to Roosevelt Beach usually. It's too far for me to walk because they closed the beach approach road but it does have a nice big parking area and some picnic benches. It's usually empty.

The trail is overgrown in places with prickly trees that feel like a bunch of needles poking you (quoting my 11 year old). The views along the creek out to the ocean are beautiful. The parking lot warns of spurs, and a few of us got stuck by them. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the hike/walk. If anything, I'd go to the halfway point lookout and then turn around. The trail is much more overgrown after that. See pics for the tunnels of brush we had to go through.

Not that I'm aware of. Busy time of year now, it is a tourist place.
No camping allowed. There is a camp site one block south called Sunrise on Heath ave
Here's some history, but I can't find when the park was actually established; The park owes its existence to Judge Griffiths, who in the late 1800s purchased the original 117 acres that he willed at his death to be made into a park for everyone's enjoyment. Griffiths HV stipulated that the park be named Griffiths-Priday Ocean State Park, a combination of his surname and the name of his foster parents who brou
