I've learned that you do not need to identify as artistic to get a tremendous benefit from art therapy. The women's art circle which I have been a part of has been transformative and supportive in so many ways. The creative prompts spark thought and discussion, and I have learned much about myself and how I give and receive support. I'd recommend Westchester creative arts therapy to anyone who wants to explore new sides of themselves and awaken their creativity.

Mika has an incredible, creative, beautiful and inviting art studio space in which I have had the pleasure and joy of participating in an ongoing Women's art Circle for over 1 year. In this safe space that Mika has created with empathy and kindness, she facilitates different forms of creative expression, allowing each of us to explore different aspects of our past, present and future. I could not imagine the past year and pandemic without the support of Mika and our circle. Mika is professional, caring and highly respected.

As stated from the Art Therapy Association, “Art Therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensory-motor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, reduce and resolve conflicts and distress, and advance societal and ecological change.” Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that utilizes art as a tool for self-expression. It encourages individuals to give voice to emotions through the artistic and creative process. You do not need to be a “good” artist to benefit from art therapy.
Absolutely. Mom’s Night Out Art Circles give mothers the opportunity to nurture their creative selves with other women to foster personal growth and self-expression through guided art-making. Absolutely no previous art experience is necessary to enjoy the benefits of this circle.
Yes, Children are often unable to articulate and define their emotions. Art therapy has proven to be a powerful modality to access valuable information and insights that children are unable to express. Sessions with the therapist and child are held in a safe, nurturing and playful art studio space. By having the opportunity to use a range of art mediums, a natural form of communication, children are able to find new ways to express themselves and find their voice. A comfortable and relaxing waiting room is provided for parents.
