We attended a Big Band concert there recently and in exploring the grounds there is lots to see; lighthouse, historical society etc and a great view of Lake Erie. It was a windy day so even had waves crashing on the break wall. Immaculate grounds with newer bathrooms.

Our family's favorite place to visit! No matter the time of year, or weather, it's absolutely beautiful and fun. The kids love to climb on the big rocks while us adults love the sound of the calming water hitting the rocks and views of Cedar Point and the island's. Lots of fossils to see on the rocks. They even do tours where you can go into the lighthouse.

I love coming here... but I seem to make it here when the lighthouse is closed! This time I was in luck! Even if you stop by and the museum is closed, it is still a great place to visit. You can walk around the base of the lighthouse and watch the waves crash on the shore. You can even let you feet feel the cool Lake Erie water. The views are amazing, especially the view of Cedar Point. But I won't lie! If you stop by during the museum hours AND when the lighthouse is open for tours.... you will catch a view of the area that can't be beat! There are 77 steps to the top and you can walk around the walkway getting a 360 degree view! If you have binoculars, bring them! The view of the nearby islands is stunning! There is a lot to learn about the lighthouse and the men and women who made sure the light stayed burning. If the museum o is closed, there are several informational markers to provide additional details. Also on the grounds is a replica of a US Life Saving Station and restrooms in a separate building.

Gorgeous lighthouse. I hope to go inside one day! The restrooms are clean & the grounds are beautiful. Great views of Lake Erie, sunrise or sunset & anything in between.

Yes you can!
The grounds are open 24/7/365
You need to contact East Harbor State Park for permit/ information
The lighthouse is not on a island and yes you can see it all year round
Park is free. Don't know about the Lighthouse itself.
The grounds will be open but the buildings have been closed this year.
Yes.. you're able to bring a grill or they have grills there with lots of tables with beautiful scenery.. Hope you enjoy your visit
They do have some souvenirs but I'm not sure on the t-shirts.
It's free to see the lighthouse. There is a nominal fee to climb the stairs up to the top. The lighthouse itself is only open between Memorial Day and Labor Day
Yes, it's very dog friendly. We took our dog & she visited with many different breeds.
Not sure ifthe park is open after dusk?
I am not sure about that, but in Marblehead, there is a parking lot for the ferry that would be lit up better and would be patrolled better than at the lighthouse.
I wouldn't swim near the lighthouse. It's pretty rough. But, in general, lake Erie is ok for swimming, just don't get in your mouth or swallow.
Its within a couple hundred feet, very accessible with a wide and smooth concrete path.
The guided tours are only on certain days
It was built in 1820, completed in 1821, and opened in 1822
1821, it's the oldest lighthouse still in use on the great lakes
Yes. East Harbor State Park
According to their website they are closed and open at 12 noon tomorrow. Its a state park and likely closed after dark though I dont know for sure. On our visit the shoreline was super cool and rocky with waves slamming into the rocks. The sound was intense and the wind was as well! I live in indiana and only visited this location once.
Its not very tall, when we visited we didnt see it until we were in the parking lot because it is surrounded by trees.
Yes it is wheelchair friendly
Elaine, We have many photos of the keepers' house over the years and I have none that show a large porch. The oldest was taken right after construction in 1880 and the front porch is as it appears today. The back stairs from the assistant keeper's quarters empty onto an enclosed porch of about 8 x 15 feet and that may have been an open area at some point.
If you want to get some great fish, go to The Jolly Roger in Port Clinton!! Crosswinds is great too!!
It's for the lighthouse. It is only open during those hours and is not open all the time.
The Marblehead Lighthouse State Park is officially open from dawn to dusk every day of the year. There is no gate, and since it's a lighthouse, many people go there to see it at night. Tours of the Lighthouse, Keeper's House and U.S. Lifesaving Station Museum are held from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend from noon until 4 pm. There are restrooms many picnic tables on the grounds.
Picnic tables and benches throughout the grounds but no grills and no picnic shelter. You'll be sitting wide out in the elements. They do have restrooms. 🙄
Tap on their website located above were you asked your question. Then tap on hours open and it will have all that information. 😀
