Love everything Navy!

You will hear from him soon be patient they don't allow them to make phone call's right off hand. You got this mama 💪🏽
SR Recruit last name, first name Ship # Div# 3420 Sailor Dr. Great Lakes, Il 60088-3520
They usually have access to computers once they get to A-school. He/she should also be able to have their personal phone when they get to a-school, not to mention access to payphones. The other responses on here are more pertinent to bootcamp, in bootcamp, its true, calls to home are rare and the phones they use in the call center cant be called back. But, A-school is different. They can call everyday if they have a way to do it...however, depending on what branch of the military they joined, the privileges will vary. Navy students get personal phone privileges right away. I met my son just a few weeks ago at his graduation ceremony and brought him his cell phone. Army students for A-school (or AIT as they call it) don't get personal cell phone privileges right away, they usually have to endure the first 2 weeks first.
Have you considered a homeless veteran? Contact the walk in Center at Lovell FHCC.
First Friday of July, however that would be the 5th, not sure if that would be delayed because of 4th of July weekend or not.
If they are in basic training in Illinois, they cant have anything that is food or drink. Open or not. My son just went through basic there.
yes, many option, you have to try and find best option for yourself
Only 4 persons per Navy graduate are allowed into the parade hall. No exceptions. When my son graduated they would not allow transferred tickets from another graduate. Even if less than two people were coming to see him. You have to check in and get the tickets at the Family Welcome Center at the NEX outside the base.
wait for a letter to come home
Only 3 people are allowed to attend graduation cause of the class size
Your recruit will call you after 3 to 4 weeks in Bootcamp.
Head to the visitors center first thing. It's visible from the entrance.
If it's a recruit going through basic training they will send you the information through the mail. You will get a letter within the first two weeks.
Yes they play the graduation in the visitors center.
Can't speak for Navy but when my daughter went through Ft Jackson(Army 6 years ago) there was access to pictures taken for their yearbook throughout the training. Not daily and no guarantee of seeing your kid but it was there. They were also available for purchase for a set time after. Don't recall if this was on FB. Try searching for her training unit on FB. Check the Great Lakes web page. Good luck.
Not sure at this moment because they always change the dates sorry I couldn't be of help 💖
Maybe the Navy Times Magazine could post his Ship and his Name. Contact Great Lakes
Marines can. I don't know about Navy. Ask his recruiter.
Yeah, he shoulda waited till spring, what ever. You'll get a letter in the mail and they will give you information guiding you to where to stay and what his estimated date of graduation is if everything goes well with him with no set backs. God bless him. OORAH!
I stayed at the Comfort inn Libertyville . They have a round trip shuttle to the ceremony ( even though I rented a car). Book as soon as possible for the best prices.
That will be fine calrias and nice top
You gotta go through DEERS...if your family were in your orders then they are in the system...You also need a letter of eligibility dont remember how you obtain it though...Its been a while...Plus you need a pass to be able to get in and off post...Hope that lil Intel helps. Good luck Sapper OUT
It's probably best younger the recruiter take him and drop him off, no big deal, it never hurts to ask.
As the others stated....he will find out. My son is schooling for two years at great lakes. Others went to where they were going the next day. Just depends on their "jobs".
He's in medical and he's probably not allowed to get liberty each day if he's in class A but if he's still in the basic training then it's still medical but it may feel more confined. I hope this helps.
Yes only 4 , only thing that saved us was they broadcast the ceremony at local hotels. Which was how my daughter's siblings and grandfather were able to watch.
It is an 8 week course
I think so, I see no problem to get it updated. And have it corrected as well.
We just attended graduation on 7/6/2018 they no longer send out tickets, you have to pick them up, at the welcome family center on Green Bay Rd (across from base) also keep in mind sometimes mail runs extremely slow at times on the base. As long as you and your recruit have the understanding of who she is putting on the list for graduation you should be fine. (I HOPE) I would also suggest signing up for navy for moms or navy for dads online. There is a wealth of information there and tons of people to help out with the process and answer lots of questions. I hope your recruit has gotten the form letter by now. Definitely not an experience you want to miss.
Go to MWR or Family Fleet Readiness websites
Yes. 4 is the max and they must all be on your sailor's list in advance of the graduation. There is a form that your Sailor would have sent home to be filled in & returned to your Sailor.
Taxis that register at the welcome center and get proper clearance and or credentials. Uber NO.
You're best bet would have to be at the NEX on base. Tailor side of the store. Hope that helped.
Donny moorland us navy recruiter 1976.
The hospital was torn down on the Corps Side and now military servicemen actually go to the James Lovell Veterans Administration Hospital.
No
Please contact the public affairs office!
Yes they are allowed to attend
Yes it will be recorded, youtuve and facebook. Just put the last name and first name and it should come up.
Yes and no. There are integrated (male and female) divisions and male only divisions.
Gate 8 is where you can park. They will direct you. We arrived at 6am and the line was long but the gate opens at 630 and moved quickly. A small walk to the building.
You'll receive a package in the mail with all the information.... If not, contact the MWR at the base....
After a few weeks at bootcamp the recruits send a letter home with their addresses.
It all depends in the graduates sorroundings, its best to wear the uniform, to show off and be proud. Enjoy it.
Probably January 27th. If she gets wronged, add an extra 2 weeks. If the winter gets bad add another week or so to the date shes suppose to graduate. You'll probably be notified in 4 weeks of her exact graduation date via mail.
It's on Lake Michigan
Don't have current info, but will seek and respond, ( been retired 15 yrs).
I just tried today. They are closed until further notice due to covid.
I just recently graduated boot camp. Depending on when he got there it should be approx 2-3 weeks. They'll be able to purchase a phone card and use a phone booth.
Is there an address that we use so the recruits will receive the mail that we send? Also, is there a specific way to address them personally so it is directed to them? Thank you in advance
Go on Facebook to the group RTC great Lakes and beyond and they should be able to help
Generally speaking, yes.
No
No.. You have to go to Gurnee location
The first answer is correct...however you seem to be asking if they will have leave to come home...No they usually do not get that
Very normal And they were told that would be expected
If you have a military ID there is lodging and camp grounds on base you can stay at. Take an RV or RV trailer. Lake Michigan is hella cold!👍🏼
I am really not sure..I was up visiting for nephews graduation .
Yes of course, But you need to know what ship hes on.
Your son should know the answer to that question I know my daughter graduated from boot camp before Thanksgiving and she is able to use the leave that she has to be able to come home for a while
Give it a couple weeks for them to be adjusted to their recruit schedule. You should've received a phone call from him/her and received their personal belongings in a box.
The name of the ship and/or the division should be provided by the recruit because they know who they are assigned to and if it changes.
I'm not sure. I know they're not allowed to have their cellphones on them. It may be a month before they're able to use the pay phone. He should be writing you by now.
Don't know. But I bet a call to the visitor's center would clear it up.
Yes my son is an e3 right out of bootcamp.. He was in rotc all 4 years of high school
Try Ancestry.com
It's not a place to play bingo.
Depends on where you're staying, there are several things around the base but down town Chicago is about 40 mins
I don't know. Never been at the USO in Great Lakes but you can try "Together we serve" to see if they can help you out . . .
They are lots of great hotels in the Waukegan area. If you know the graduation day you can check at the Navy Lodge also.
There is a Veterans Health Care center there. Not sure what other benefits they can help with. https://www.va.gov/directory/guide/facility.asp?id=98
I would say August 30th or September 6th. My son just graduated June 7th. He left to Chicago April 4th.
Hey Little Momma, I was born in the military, then married a military man, and ours sons went military, 1 will retire soon. So I know, it’s hard. You and I could talk. Boot camp is tough, however a good tough, you learn life lessons. Your young man will learn self sufficiency, as well as to read other recruits. His division learn each others short comings and strengths as to create a greater team. Actually I should say Siblings, family. As far as his wife’s response, “This is a trying time for her as well, information is not flowing this early in the game, even to Her, It’s time to put your big girl panties on. Don’t cause your son, any STRESS! Momma ....be completely selfless in communications with the Beautiful Baby Boy of yours. Especially with the spouse, OUCH that’s right! Call, text, email her, Ask how “She” is doing, hows work, her family. Don’t be a mom he must DEAL with. Be Mom, that lights his face up, her as well, Selflessness Wins. He loves you,
I sent my daughter 50 dollars to try. And she did received it
When my son was in boot camp, the first letter that he sent me had all of his information in it. He made sure we knew how to write him back. So if he just got to boot camp wait on his fist letter.
Call his recruiter.
Ask your son for the information nobody else can give it to you but him
I can not answer publicly. His recruiter can tell you more.
Not exactly sure what you mean, but if you're referring to a recruit that is currently in boot camp, you will not be able to see them until after they graduate unless a family emergency arises.
You basically count 9 fridays from when your recruit arrives.
Five Star on Green Bay Rd.
You should not have a problem. Make sure you have your handicapped placard available and ask security as you enter the gates for accessible parking. Graduation is held in a large hall with bleacher style seating. Handicapped seating will be available.
In my past experience, I have misplaced or lost my birth certificate to twice. In both occasions, I've had to go back to my home state and go to the records department there with my ID and social security card to retrieve it.
If you mailed a letter it usually takes a few weeks before you receive anything back. Have you tried using the Sandboxx App? It's about $4 a letter, but you get a notification when your letter has been delivered, usually the next day.
4. Firm. Time of year may provide for additional people. Plan for only 4. The recruit must submit the specific names.
Yes and it is up for a week http://navylive.dodlive.mil/2019/01/18/navy-recruit-graduation-january-18-2019/
The first "communication" we had with our son last Aug., was when we received his box of personal stuff shortly after the first week. A day or two later we received a formal letter in his handwriting. It contained his address and other info. A week later was his first phone call. We were surprised at how long he was allowed to talk to us.
Yes, there is live feed for graduation. Check with your sailor.
Go to...military.com. The sight will guide you thru the process
Daily, except Sunday, I believe. It took 4-5 days enroute for our letters to reach our son.
That there my friend you needto go personally yourself and ask permission to a high ranking official.
Right now 48' its going to be colder for Friday's graduation. High of 30
I don't have the answer to that question.
Anyone can request military records by submitting a Standard Form 180 (SF-180)
At the VA yes i dont think so.you can call base locater ask him or her.
Well, seems like you or someone you know may have an issue. I wouldn't go then. Get clean?
You are gauranteed four people however you can bring more bu there wont be gauranteed seating together nor gauranteed seating
8PM
Just be patient. Your son will write you soon.
You can only visit during graduation.. There's admissions building next to the main gate guard shack You have to see them 1st
You will not be able to use the on - base RV park if you are not a military member or dependent.
if graduation, you can call the welcome center. if your a recruit try your recruiter
By letter or wait for thier phone calls
it is very cold and with light snow fall. the wind is blowing and is brutal
you will need to get their company number and address, example Bravo company 3rd training battalion great lakes training facility. something like that. she can send you a letter or postcard with the info or you can call the training base and get the information. I was army so the terminology will be slightly different. hope that this helps
Not sure, I was surprised they even had a store onsite :)
Probably best to contact them directly and ask.
If you know his division number, you can also call the events coordinator's office. I'm in Texas & needed the info, when my oldest was there back in November. They were very helpful, especially due to it being veteran's day & they don't do graduations on holidays.
Ohare but the flights from Midway are cheaper.
Just Google Naval Training Command, Great Lakes
Yes, but the sender has to address it directly to the recruit with the correct name, ship # & division #. Also, make sure its just letters.... No food. No glitter. No confetti or anything loose that could get their ship messy and the Recruit in trouble.
Actually I believe they close at 8 p.m.
USO OF ILLINOIS .The have a big hall that you can't imagine how many people it can hold
