My son just got to the Navy boot camp and I haven't heard from him. Is anyone having this issue? I'm pretty nervous

This is normal process for Naval (and other military) recruits. It takes some time for them to adapted to change, barracks assignments, uniform issuing, medical check ups ect. All recruits are required to call home at set intervals and the first call can take a week or two based on when they came into post and how long they take to some of the other things done. If any were wrong, you would be notified. Best way to handle military life (which you are now part of, since you have a family member in) NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS. Hard but true. Take from from a military member and family member for a whole lifetime. Fair winds and following sea.

All is well Mom, it part of the process.... please stay strong. Thanks to your Son for his services.

I have the same worries. Glad to know I’m not alone.

Remember once your son or in my case daughter gets to boot camp the military doesn't worry about the families at home they are only worried about the recruit. The navy will get around to letting them call on there time trust me I did 8 years and there moto was if they don't give it to you then you don't need it or matter. So we as parents have to be strong and wait out for the times they are allowed to can. But once they get out of boot camp and go to A school things will be a lot easier. Just the first 8 weeks will be hell and I know because my daughter just left to arrive in great lakes today

You'll get a letter in the mail soon. Cherish it. Man or woman hood. Priceless. Who can ask for anything more. Next will be emails from around the world. NAVY STRONG.

Your son is in boot camp, their rules are followed to the letter, I'd say give him a month and you'll hear from him, I know it's hard but he's becoming a man, but that's what mother's do, they worry, and you're like a million other mother's out there and it's what mother's do!

Raul Campos | Oct 11, 2019

He will call within 3 weeks of boot camp and the first day for like 60 seconds!

Cameron Vath | Oct 10, 2020

They're allowed one minute to attempt to make a collect call on a payphone. Some people don't manage it 😂 I was one of them. First time I ever used a payphone 🤷‍♂️

Not to worry mom/dad, that is part of the training.

gary wallace | Oct 10, 2020

No worries. I went through boot camp there. Boot camp is a separate base from the main base. Your kids safe. About a mile from what's happening

Mark Dun | Oct 10, 2020

My son is a Navy Recruit. He went in on December 14th. Who can i call to find out his graduation date

B W | Oct 10, 2021

I'm in the same boat. It's been 3 weeks. When I went to boot camp in 1978 we were instructed to write a letter home the day we got our drill instructors. That was 3 days after my arrival. So yeah I'm getting concerned as well
