Great place to find furry friends and learn how to be nice to them
orpailleur
Jenny and all others from the foster group were amazing! Thanks for everything!
Skooby
This place is the perfect example of how it is done! From the cleanliness of the facility to the best staff in the business very helpful and friendly you can tell the care about the animals! I found a newborn kitten in a car at work who needed help and these fine people got her the help she needed and we told them once she was healthy we wanted to adopt her. Well today we got the call she was ready to come home and we couldn't have had a better experience! Thank you all
KAREN MILENA
Your work is unique... thank you for offering a second chance to the animals, excellent attention, the very good team work in harmony
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
There is an organization in Texas, God’s Dogs, that transport pets to the North West and new families. They are doing amazing work at getting as many dogs out of Texas and high kill shelters into good homes. They are a foster based rescue. God’s Dogs, Von Ormy Tx
They always need help just call them
Best friends does not take personal animals. They receive them from other organizations but they could definitely tell you your best options
I wouldn't know. Great question. I received my 7 year old cat several weeks ago during free adoption week. She had all her documents, shots, proof of vaccinations, she was fixed. I was so impressed by the love and care given at the center. I've also been able to communicate by email and get rapid responses back
You need call them directly honestly
Yes you may visit with the animal of your choice in a large private room
Hi Diana, thanks for your message. We recommend Thrive Pet Care for low cost dentistry for dogs. There is a location in Sugar House at 1165 East Wilmington Ave. Phone: (385) 200-5957 We hope this helps! Thanks again for reaching out. - jaimi
Hi Derek, thanks for asking! We are on the ground level, and there are a few ramps that will take you up to the curb to enter our facility. We hope to see you! -jaimi
Hi, thanks for your message. Visit our location at 2005 S. 1100 E. In Salt Lake City Tuesday through Saturday from 12 noon to 6pm. M. And from Monday to Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. M. Our adoption specialists will help you adopt a cat. Thanks again, Jaimi
I don't think that they house pets
If it's emergency you need go the front lobby explain the situation or go the their dog/cat panty
To my knowledge, no help with litter. But their website has a form you can fill out for free dog and cat food. You can get help once every 3 months. They'll send you a text when you fill out the form giving you options of when to pick it up. Very helpful. Donations are welcomed but not required.
The have feral cat traps yes. Go to their location in sugar house and they can assign one to you. Then once the cat is trapped you call them and they come get it.
I would also call to see if they can get them spayed/neutered before the have litters of kittens and you have a bigger issue
Kids aged 12 and up are welcome to volunteer, and kids under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to volunteer. For certain roles, like dog handling, volunteers must be 18 or older.
Post on as many Pet list and found sights on Facebook. Utah Lost and Found Pets, Utah 411 are just a few. Make sure to add breed, age, location your dog was lost in. You can also put up posters around that neighborhood. Keep an eye on KSL and Craigslist for anyone trying to sell or rehome a pet that appears like yours. Petharbor.com has lots of pets listed too. Good luck. I hope you find your baby soon.
Yes! If they have them. They have the most kittens during the summer. Usually kitten adoptions are exempt from their sales, so a kitten will run you a bit more money than an adult cat.
You would have to contact best friend's I do know that you can get a discount at least on cats, if you are low income.
They always need volunteers just call them
They ARE a rescue! Why would they "release" their animals to other rescues?!
If you're on Facebook, look on my wall.
Hi Annette, we're so sorry to hear about your house. Please check Utah Veterinary Hospital in Orem, the Humane Society of Utah, Heartsong Spay/Neuter Clinic, Salt Lake Spay/Neuter or the Petco in your area for low cost spay/neuter and vaccinations. Good luck and thanks for your message. - jaimi
Hi Carolyn, thanks for your message. We don't have a location in NC, but if you search for cat rescues in that area, they might be able to help rehome. Thank you for your compassion and I hope this helps. - jaimi
Hi there, thanks for your question. Our low-income voucher program was phased out years ago, and it didn't cover vaccinations. Our clinic currently closed to the public as we are facilitating much needed spay/neuter surgeries for our shelter and rescue partners and community cat caregivers and are short on staff. We are planning a reopening phase and will announce our re-opening date as soon as it's available. We look forward to the day our organization can once again provide this important service to the public. Until then, please check Utah Veterinary Hospital, the Humane Society of Utah, Heartsong Spay/Neuter Clinic or Salt Lake Spay/Neuter for low cost spay/neuter and vaccinations. - jaimi
Your dog sounds very sweet, but unfortunately that is not the kind of service provided here. This location provides support to animal shelters and pet adoption services.
Best Friends will accept animals only if they were adopted from Best Friends. They do not take in animals from the general public. They take animals in from overcrowded shelters.
If you want a slow start, slowly start introducing gently paw touches with treats. That will show him that paw touching is good! Once he's comfortable with paw touches and grabbing, you can start associating the clippers with treats as well and try one nail at a time to see how he handles it 🤗
Hi Laurie - Our Orem Spay/Neuter Clinic is still closed to the public. Right now, we are facilitating much needed spay/neuter surgeries for our shelter and rescue partners and community cat caregivers. We are planning a reopening phase and will announce our re-opening date as soon as it's available. We look forward to the day our organization can once again provide this important service to the public. Until then, please check the Humane Society of Utah, Heartsong Spay/Neuter Clinic or Salt Lake Spay/Neuter for low cost spay/neuter and vaccinations. - jaimi
They are open by appointment only for now, and announced today that through Saturday will be walk-in supply pick up 12-4
I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Best Friends doesn't take in animals from owners, just from other shelters.
Hi Dennis - Thanks for your message. Are you referring to one of our shelter and rescue partners or our Lifesaving Center in Salt Lake City? - jaimi
I don't think Best Friends has the resources to trap stray kitties themselves, but they may be able to point you in the right direction as to how to do it yourself. I believe Salt Lake County Animal Services can supply you with a trap and will take the cat into their service after you have caught it. Good luck and thank you for trying to help the poor little thing!
Hi Janet - Thanks for asking. We do not do dental care. Do you need a recommendation in the SLC area? - jaimi
I doubt it since a chemical neuter can be reversed. The point of best friends is to find homes for current homeless pets and not create more homeless pets. You might want to call several veterinarians in the area to see what they can do and what the risks really are.
They might be able to also call the division of wild life resource they might be able to help to
Hi Michelle - You may want to try Mountain View Vet. Thanks for asking. - jaimi https://www.mymountainviewvet.com/
Yes they do but I'm not sure if they need an adult.
It depends. The foster and try to do what they can. At least they don't kill them. They know the basics about the dogs.
Yes you can. If you find another dog or cat you want they want you to bring yours in to see how it works. But they can tell you best. I had 2 dogs and brought home a cat. My one dog knew cats, not the other didn't but they are a great family now
Yes
They only do Spay and Neutering for the animals they have.
I live in Manti, but have an appointment in Slc today. Do you happen to know of any? We dont have any shelters in my area
Best Friends runs a low-cost spay and neuter clinic in Orem. They offer a family plan package for $75 to spay/neuter a mom and her kittens. Go here for info here and to book appointments: https://utah.bestfriends.org/our-programs/spay-and-neuter
You didn't say specifically what you were looking for that was 25lbs. They have dogs, food, volunteers. You should just go to best friends because it changes all the time.
Best Friends does not accept animal surrenders from the public. Contact your local animal control to report strays or book an appointment with the Humane Society of Utah to surrender an owned pet.
They usually have a lot of kittens and cats.
Yes they offer them at their Orem and their Ogden clinic when it reopens in the fall. Other low cost options are available at The Humane Society, Salt Lake spay and neuter, and Healing Hearts. If you live in Salt Lake County animal service jurisdiction they also offer low cost options.
No
A lot would depend on the personality and temperament of the cat. If he or she is a fit for the person looking, that is what matters
It seems that you should get in touch with Humane Society or Animal Control for the county where you live, sorry to know of an animal that suffers.
Because you did a job, got a paycheck and are now demanding special treatment 🤔 you just like every other person in the working world bud.
I don't recall receiving a certificate, but Patricia is correct on the process.
Hi Lanette. My suggestion is to call them directly. Also look up Salt Lake Pit Crew on Facebook. They work with pitbulls and can provide information also. Good luck. I love, love, love this breed.
It's much easier to go in. They probably don't have the time to list all the pets in the shelter.👍
I've had to have an appointment but while I was there they did help special cases so I would give it a shot
Probably the local animal shelter. The ones you call for animal control and whatnot
You can get a trap from animal services and as soon as u trap the cat they will pick it up and find it a good home!!
Perhaps a GoFundMe page? Facebook? Include the story and pictures.
Go to any animal shelter some are as low as 10 dollars plus they will give the shots Davis county will also give you a goodie bag with toys and a coupons for food and other things
Yes, thank you! We use those for community cat winter shelters. You can drop them off at our Pet Adoption Center at 2005 S 1100 E during our regular hours - 11am to 7pm Monday through Saturday and 11am to 4pm Sunday. If you have a lot of them or need help unloading, just pull around to the back of the building and ring our back doorbell next to the garage door.
You can volunteer at 12 with a parent or guardian (18+) along side you on your shifts. At 16 you can volunteer on your own in almost all capacities except for dog handling. At 18 you can volunteer anywhere. More info: volunteer.bestfriends.org.
Crate train him. I hope you keep him, but if you have to surrender him, just take him to the shelter and turn him over to the Utah humane society
Just call. They can help!
If you'd like to interact with the dogs, the best way is to sign up and volunteer. You can do so at volunteers.bestfriends.org. Of course, we welcome the public to visit, but a lot of activity with dogs in and out of kennels raises their stress level. We try to keep it to a minimum, for necessary walks by volunteers, training and behavior reinforcement, and meeting potential adopters.
The Rhode Home does allow dogs. Have you contacted them to see if they allow cats? If they don't, you might want to check with Best Friends Animal Society. They may have some suggestions.
There are Best Friends adoption center in New York and Atlanta, but they also partner with rescue organizations all over the US. Check their website.
Call them and see what the process is. They do issue voucher for fixing cats and I think have a clinic in provo or orem. But not positive.
They don't do checkups. This is just an adoption center.
Sorry, but we only have cats and dogs at our adoption center here in Salt Lake. Salt Lake County Animal Services often has small pets like hamsters.
Call them
This is only an adoption center, they do not vaccinate for the public here.
You would probably want to call and ask.
They offer low cost spay /neuter and vaccinations.
You can definitely go to their clinic or to the best friends society and ask one of the attenders personally
Yes. Best Friends Animal Society started as the animal sanctuary in Kanab and then it expanded to become the huge rescue organization with branches in different cities and with the aim of no kill status at all the local shelters.
Best friends do not accept animals unless they were adopted from Best friends animal society. And for temporary residence, you can look into either pet hotels or maybe a friend who can keep your pet for sometime.
You should probably call and ask them. Or, look up then up online where you can see their inventory.
No
Yes they offer a walk in vaccine clinic. It is $12 per vaccine with a $5 office visit. Check the website for hours.
Yes. They are no kill and they are actively promoting to make Utah no kill and it's at 86% now. Animals come here from other shelters and they because a part of best friends. Even if the adopted animals are returned, they are taken back by best friends and kept there or fostered till they find a new home.
No
You can come look at the cats, choose the cat(s) you love, fill the forms to ensure that you meet all criteria and pay the adoption amount and take your kitty home in a cardboard carrier.
Since most PTSD dogs are emotional support animals(ESA), and not service dogs, they have to be specially registered. Check with a local ESA orginization.
They offer a low price spay at the Orem and South Ogden location
