Always a great experience at Mestizo! Always friendly, clean, & tasty. I love the atmosphere & decor. Worldly, Variant in Culture. They always have some sort of neat, eclectic, other-country, decently price souvenirs to buy. Excellent pastries, brownies, and they're mixed turkey on a toasted bagel -- is utterly marvelous! -- I used to add mayo and this and that..... but ain't nothing better than just the way it comes. Definitely go check out Mestizo Cafe. Nice People, Great Coffee, Good Times. Its worth the drive, or Trax ride. Green line Train to Airport, Guadalupe Bridge Stop.

On several occasions I've waited more than 40 minutes for drinks, (don't even think about coming here on a weekend) and about 1/3 of the time my order is prepared wrong and I have to wait for it to be remade or just leave with whatever random drink they give me. I've seen the owner working there and it's always fully staffed when he's there, but when he's away there's usually just two employees working. Seems like some serious staffing and management issues - the owner makes sure to have a nice full schedule when he's around but doesn't really seem to care how things operate when he's not around. I've also seen him force his employees to turn away homeless people asking for a water on an 102° day. Staff is kind but the owner not as much. Try Sugarhouse Coffee instead. The owners there show a much more significant amount of care and respect for their community and employees than Mestizo's.
