The real question is when they make an appointment at a specific hour they should respect that time. Lines around the building at my appointed hour was somewhat disconcerting as I am 89 years old.

Yes, you absolutely can. Just got to their website and click on replacement. From there you can enter your i.d information. Make sure to have a printer because you will need to print out the copy. Take about 2 weeks to receive. Wife did it this way so she won't have to step a foot in them dreadful lines.

To Gloria , You would have to wait in line and once you're inside the building you need to get a number to wait to be assisted. Whenever there's alot of people the line can be long but the Staff Assistance is Very Professional And Willing to Assist that makes up for the wait . ANY BUSINESS THAT'S UNDERSTAFFED WHEN OVER POPULATED WITH CUSTOMERS HAVE A LONGER THAN USUAL WAIT . Look at some of these stores giving away promotions and selling first hand products and items lines are started hours or even days before the doors open. There's usually 2 lines formed around 8:30 am with approximately 5 or 6 ppl on them . There is a person who works for the department with a clipboard and a temperature gun checking ppl in and taking temperature outside the building, if you come on time they will walk to wherever you are on that line and check you in .

I got in within 3 weeks after I scheduled an appointment which was the quickest of any other DOT. You just got to schedule an appointment on the website. It was more inconvenient than walking on but they said that that is how they are going to do it for now on even after the covid-19.

You must be accompanied by a representative and fill out a form that you get there in the DPS for minors and there is a part where they must sign a representative (dad or MOM). As a record that you live in that direction.

Oh ! From another state its possible that you might need your birth certificate . It has a courthouse next door to the DPS Office where you can get your SS Card

I just moved from Colorado. Here's the order: 1. Get Texas insurance, 2. Get the inspection done, 3. Do your registration, 4. Get your Texas drivers license. You can't get it all done at one office unfortunately.
