Other than the location this apartment is terrible. Elevators never work, false fire alarms multiple times a week, decided to not open pool for the summer and refunded a measly $75 for it, gym is outdated, management is terrible. The list goes on, don't rent at this place unless you love walking flights of stairs unexpectedly.

Pros: The apartments themselves are very nice and modern and the location is unbeatable. Comparatively cheaper rent for large apartments downtown. Maintenance staff and leasing staff are very friendly and try to help the best they can with the issues which are ultimately likely not in their control, rather in the owners and higher management. Cons: Where to begin…if you love being woken up in the night by false fire alarms this is the place for you. So far 4 times this month. Elevators are constantly not working (“waiting for a part” for several months for one of them, constant issues with other three). Lobby smells like trash. General lack of maintenance and care for the rest of building. Always promises that things will be improved and fixes done, but more talk than action, always seems to be “out of our control” or someone else’s fault. No proactive communication to residents about the known issues. I would say if you are being promised something regarding building maintenance as a new tenant, beware and remember actions speak louder than words.

In leaving a review only because I know this is the only way to get an appropriate response from a company. When I moved into my apartment Things were agreed to be fixed before my move in and were never fixed during the duration of my lease ( missing cabinet doors, broken closet doors, moldy chipped paint in the tub, broken ceiling in the bedroom closet ETC). These things were never fixed. Also About 9 months into living at this place I needed a copy of my lease to provide with another company, THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A LEASE. I asked for the lease about 5 times in a 2 months timeframe and threatened to get a lawyer before I was notified there was no lease. The sky deck was closed the entire summer although we do pay for that in our rent every month. Now I’ve moved out about 2 month ago June 31. I called about July 15 to confirm info about my $1600 security deposit they said allow about 45 days. Here we are at about 15 days past the 45 days and 30 days past the 30 days and I cant even get anybody on the phone OR in person to tell me anything about my security deposit. there was no lease for whatever reason but we all Know there was a security deposit paid. Hopefully someone can finally reach out to me about this issue.

Never got my deposit back, nor any follow-up after I moved out. I've called and left messages and e-mailed to no avail. Would not reccomended this apartment with the amount of problems that persisted my entire lease.

Unless you can take a picture of it and put it on online brochure for vacation renters, DCA isn't going to fix anything.

Affordable is so relative but also rent varies so much on Washington Boulevard. Claridge and City Club run from around $1200 to around $2400, Whitney is up over $1800 to around $3500, Kamper Stevens and Washington Boulevard Apartments are low income and rent is based on income but averages around $500 to around $900. The Book Building is going to have high end apartments as well as low income apartments and also retail and office space when it reopens.
