Very nice zoo! As someone who has lived next to the Detroit zoo, I was pleasantly surprised that this zoo wasn't underwhelming at all. The otters and penguins were probably my favorite. Spent about 3.5 hours here. Food at the cafe was amazing too.

What an amazing zoo!!!
So much to see and do. The "extras" are definitely worth it. Never been to a zoo on a forest foothill before. Worth every penny. Lots of shaded areas. Enclosures for the animals were great...lots of room for them and enrichment. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area.

Somehow the zoo has expanded without getting more animals. There's more walking with less learning. But there's good art! Also more opportunities to amuse kids, sometimes for an extra $10 apiece. There's a camel ride, zip line, ropes course, and pan for gems. That's after the $20 (adult) admission. But the animals seem well housed and cared for and are fun to watch. I love the painted dioramas. Staff is informative. As of June '22, the predatory birds are off view because of bird flu. Additional advice: don't go when it is very hot because the critters will be snoozing, often out of sight. They will perk up at feeding time though! That seems to be towards the end of the day.

Beautiful zoo. Staff was helpful and friendly. Went on 05/28/22, all Avians were being held inside for their safety against Bird Flu. Lots of construction, but they are working hard to bring everyone a better experience. The only thing needed is additional or bigger Cafe/table area.
Familiarize yourself with the ADA and federal service dog rights. A medically task trained service animal is allowed with you anywhere you go within your own rights. If your dog does not perform a needed task and isnt public access trained, it is not a service dog and does not belong in public.
Yes they allow outside food and drinks. The Zoo offers lots of different areas with picnic tables/tables and chairs to eat or enjoy a rest. Drinking fountains through out the park as well for water.
Just one small shark... nothing big. I feel like it's more of a zoo then an aquarium.
Do you have to make reservations for table area outside park?

You can occupy a table area without reserving as long as it is not reserved by another group.
If you are coming with a large group you can reserve one of the several table areas, which is always a good idea!

Oh Star thanks so much for telling me what’s intelligent & what’s not I don’t know what I’ve done my whole life without you I can only hope to have a fraction of your intelligence some day maybe if I change my name to Sun?
Not one with wheels, but if you can fit it in a stroller or have it not be obvious. It's not a problem. They want you to minimize the space you take and buy their own products. But it can only be water or baby required items
I was there about a week ago and there were people with dogs with them. I don't think emotional support dogs can legally be restricted if you have a note from your doctor.
Yes they have electric scooters for rent. Best to show up early limited number.
My question is Do y'all hire? Some say you guys hire young

The youngest they hire is 15, I believe. You can check their website online to see all current job openings.
Is the zoom open now and if so what are the hours and if someone has been there recently, do they have everything open or is it a waste of money and time?

I saw a post on Facebook saying people with a Michigan Bridge Card will get free admission in 2020. Is this true? I sure think it would be a wonderful thing for lower income families.

Im not sure about dogs and i know they do winter for the animals. Check their web site or call them and they can tell you more.
Ours has a expiration date on it but it was a free pass so not a gift card. I do not believe actual gift cards have a expiration you could always call the zoo to double check. Thanks and hope this helps a bit.
I dont know but that would be something to ask the park about? It might depend on what events are going on or just a no because of the amount of people .
I think they have a tortoise, but not a snapping turtle. Why are you selling a snapping turtle? Try finding a wildlife rehabilitation center or a wildlife rescue.
It's like an elevator up to the tree tops area where the red panda and tigers are located. I think it would depend on your membership level how many people ride it for free.
If you do have sloths, is there any way my daughter could get a pic with one?

We lived across the street from the zoo until three years ago. At that time they did have a sloth or too! They have made arrangements to have folks visit and have photos with animals in the past. They are closed today but I would call and leave a message or wait until tomorrow! Good luck!
It depends if they can proceed the concert without the weather ruining it. You would have to look at the weather and if it get worse it more than likely would be canceled
The fees differ for members and non-members, adults, kids, and senior citizens. There are also options for packages with camel rides, zip lines, ropes course, etc.
You can check the zoo's website to see which options fit your circumstance.
There is not, to my knowledge a special room for nursing mommas. There are however, many benches in shaded areas throughout the zoo. Many mom's are out with their kids and babies, nurse you baby where you are comfortable.
Go to their website. Prices vary by age and season. Currently
12.50 for age 13 to 61, 11 with a valid college id, 10 for kids 2-12, free for under age 2. Military and senior rates as well. Extra for activities.
