Depends when you want to go. Mornings and weekdays are the least busy, but I wouldn't say I have ever had an issue with it being busy.

Weekends are the most busy, or times the carnival is in the area, there's a nice park and pond with ducks outside the zoo, even soccer in the fields, inside is worth going, if you have little ones a stroller is advised there's alot to see and ground to cover, nice petting zoo to
I have never been unable to enjoy the zoo due to crowds.

It gets pretty busy during the afternoon but if you go around opening on a week day then you won't have to deal with a bunch of crowds
