We live in Patchogue, but drive out to Orient to avoid the Port Jeff ferry. These are so much nicer, better maintained, nicer staff etc.

How much is the cost of taking a car in a boat across the sea from this side? And how much is the cost of commuting 2021. November rent?
Yes, no charge in parking lot.
I would say give yourself a good half hour to 45 minute window... Just to play it safe. Enjoy your trip!

Correct. Also if you can't schedule or book online, but I highly recommend you should, and you're willing to wait, you can be placed on standby and buy your tickets onsite. Being on standby will not guarantee you a spot on the next boat, but usually the one after that if they have space.
Not in 2022
Idk about weight I've never been asked. It's all height, width and length. I take a 53 trailer across all the time.

Yes
I took the Mary Ellen. Not sure about the sea jet, I would give them a call.
I believe you can. Call the ferry personally to ensure that is an option before booking.
Yes. It sure does. The boats have covered areas to keep dry in as well!
Call in advance just make sure I have going there for more than 20 yrs
Schedules have changed, less ferries daily
Doesn't matter. Just do 2018
I agree with William. If there are any issues just called them on the phone.
Yes. Schedules are online here: https://www.longislandferry.com/Schedules/monthlySchedules.aspx
I never did a foxwoods trip so I wouldn't know
Yes, Jonathan, the schedule is different in the winter but they still run
Fear? It is a very large boat If you ment fare it $15 to walk on and $60 for a car and driver
Catch an Amtrak train at the ferry terminus or bike ride an additional 30 miles into Rhode Island to camp at the Burlingame state park or go to one of the gambling casinos at Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods.
According to https://www.longislandferry.com/Schedules/ScheduleDeparture.aspx "Sailing Time is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes on our auto ferries. Sailing Time is approximately 40 minutes on our HIGH SPEED ferry"
Your actual travel time is determined by traffic, weather, time-of-day, weekday or weekend. I was stationed at the U.S. Navy Submarine Base when being on time meant honorable conduct or serious punishment. If it is important to you to be on time, then allow three hours travel time on weekdays near rush hour (assuming you are driving, not walking). It is 11pm now on a Thursday as I calculate 1hour, 40 minutes under ideal conditions and minimal traffic volume. You will not likely find a sypathetic ferry captain at that hour Yes, too many variables.
Some of larger boats do. Find out which ones. Cpanynis very helpful when you call
It is posted online, if you are traveling at peak times you will need a reservation
It depends on what your doing. If you're taking your car it's $58 but this varies depending on size and passengers. Their website is the best way to calculate your rate.
Most likely, but call 2b sure
They have a website with schedules https://www.longislandferry.com
I had to start a reservation online in order to see the schedule. It was on the hour for early fall when we traveled
Yes New London is a direct ferry to Orient Point.
Not sure but they offer cheaper fares at times for frequent users and when its slow tobspur business as sonn as it starts filling or fall weekend forget it
Car and driver are about 64 additional passenger 16...but there are special fares on some crossings.
Like isabel said it all depends on what kind of vehicle you have because the bigger and more room you take the more they charge....and the people count matter also
Usually every hour, but there are different boats. Some are passenger boats only, and some might have better accommodations for your family (i.e. eating area). You can go through the booking process for the day you want and see each boat and times they depart for the day you choose.
Go to there website. it may help you...goes by the foot and it may say what per foot..
Ferries start @7am and run on hour until 8pm Weds, Thurs, Sat, until 9pm Mon, Tues, and until 9:45pm Fri & Sun. Extra ferries on some half-hours Fri/Sat/Sun. (at least for July) BUT READ SCHEDULE on line & make reservation. Else you are at mercy of space. They DO cancel ferries sometimes, but will tell you / help you if you have resevation. BE THERE half-hour before reservation time. It's a very nice ride!
Whatever it is, it beats driving!
If you are a walk-on passenger you never need a reservation. With a car... On a slow day they rarely fill up and you can buy a ticket at the ferry when you arrive. Busy weekends and holidays they fill up fast - youll have to know which ferry you're taking and make a reservation in advance They have always been very good about changing a reservation, though, so its safe to book a trip and, if necessary, change it when youre plans change - as long as there are spots available .
My advice to you is to call the fairy directly because you're not going to get an answer from here you call the ferry directly that's how you find out if they're running on time most of them do run on time so you will probably not going to make the 2
Also the Orient Point ferry (Cross Sound Ferry) goes to New London. Yes the ride across is about 1.5 hours. Very nice. But from New London to RI border on I-95 is about another 20 minutes and then you need to add the time from there to where you want to go in RI. Regardless it is much faster, and a lot more pleasant than dealing with I-95 from NY to New London.
New london doesnt go to montauk, it goes to orient point. You have to take the shelter island north and south ferries to get to the south fork. 120m from loading, crossing the sound, and unloading. Its about a half hour on the north fork, 15m for the north shelter island ferry, a half hour to drive across shelter island, 15 minutes on the south shelter island ferry. Then once you get to the south fork its about 45 minutes to montauk
Fred with the temperatures getting so cold would call them or check the website if the water is freezing it be a problem
Go to their website. Schedule varies with the season
For vehicles (including driver) is $59 one way.. and for Adult $17 and for child $6. Hope it helps.
