Can anyone tell me how, historically, the traffic on Sound Ave to the Orient Point Ferry has been on Memorial Day weekend (Saturday)? I am taking an early afternoon Ferry and trying to figure how much time to allow for Edwards Ave to the Ferry.

I would say give yourself a good half hour to 45 minute window... Just to play it safe. Enjoy your trip!

Reservation is key, allow for extra hour of travel, expect traffic to be volumous as always.

Regarding the number of cars, not sure what the reviewer was referring to. Each lane might hold around 10 cars but there are many lanes and most of the ferries are quite large. On days like you are going always have a reservation. But as several have said be early, the ferry waits for no one and is almost always on time.

Leave early the closer you get to the ferry the slower people drive 🐢🚗

Sorry..only used it once late Sept. However..the stripped car lane & signs extend easily half-mie back from the ferry..and it only hods10-12 cars.
