This morning my spouse and I went into the Social Security Office on D St in Washington DC. The two African women who were badged as Security were the rudest, inconsiderate and loud talking demanding workers of the people that I have ever encountered there. Not only would they not listen to me but refused to allow me to be with my spouse as she was being helped at the window. I am an Elder of my tribe and expect to be treated with respect. They are Public Servant and we are the public!!! I walked out without being helped. They need to be educated and disciplined for their behavior and lack of decorum.

I showed up without an appointment to request a Social Security Number. A very kind employee helped me out. I filled a request and he registered me on the system. He gave me a receipt and after 5 days I received my SSN in my mailbox. Living in Virginia I should have gone to Social Security Administration in Arlington but they nicely helped me regardless. I spent 45 minutes at the office.

Still sitting for 50 minutes for a simple issue. I was the second person in the office at 9am. They say I have to wait to speak "right person". How inept.

Yes, but they will mail it to you not print it same day. It will arrive within two weeks after you show (1) citizenship and (2) identity and (3) submit the application to them in person. Fastest way to do this is with a passport or a "Real ID" from one of a particular set of states that shows identity plus guarantees citizenship. Otherwise, you'll need (1) your birth certificate and (2) your state or DC issued ID/driver's license.

No
It's actually pretty quick
Io I need an appointment to visit a social security office?
If you're receiving benefits
Are you 62 or older? If so, yes you can. Or you can file online.
By appointment until Covid ends.
Yes! If you show up there in person without appointment they make you call on a phone number. The appointments are not available on the spot. However, they do let you drop off your documents between 12 noon and 2 pm.
It is but you need to schedule an appointment through the phone. They aren't accepting walk-ins.
You have to take them in there, if you can't wait it's a Dropbox as soon you as you come in... Place your documents in a envelope with your name last four of your SSI number and telephone number...
Yes
Idk I'm in my 30s
830am
U should go there and check on it
13th and D. If coming off 12th street tunnel. Make a left onto D. In the middle of that block you will see 13th. Go past that about 5 yards and look left. There it is beside, but right before the parking garage
No
Go in person and request a supervisor when you speak to a SSA representative.
You will need to go to an office with the form filled out and your documents. It will still take a few days for it to be mailed to you
You will need to go in and talk to a representative
Yes you can... Make an appointment for faster services..
If you already had a ss# and a U.S citizen. You just need a valid state ID or Passport. If you're not a citizen. Then you need your passport and Visa. And work documents
You can go to the office and get one. While in line fill it out if you can. You can also fill it out online and bring it to the office
Only if she's 18 and older
I would recommend doing that. Try to get there first thing in morning just before opening or 30 minutes before closing to get almost in and out
A Japanese coworker of mine has just arrived in Washington, DC to begin his new assignment as a correspondent for a Japanese media company called NIKKEI. The man, Mr. Tobita, needs to get a social security number to apply for press credentials to cover the White House, State Department and Pentagon. Does Mr. Tobita need to make an appointment to apply for a social security card at the 1300 D Street, Southwest, DC social security office? And is there a way to apply for an appointment on-line? Also, what documents should Mr. Tobita bring with him when he comes to the social security office to apply for his social security card? Thanks, Steve Keefe Assistant to Mr. Tobita
If it's for newborns and children you will need their birth certificate and or shot records. Originals only. No copies. For adults you will need a state ID. If you do not have that, you will need in its place a passport , or work ID (government), or a medicare card. If you do lot have those, you will need to have a medical record that's no older than 2 years old. You can go online at www.ssa.gov for more information
Go down SSI because it takes too long on the phone to get a appointment
Yes. Make sure you have your application formed filled out first and have the proof of identification to make it faster for you
You dont need to make an appointment. You can walk in.
If your brother has medical records, a medical insurance card bring that to the SSA office with his birth certificate. Call the SSA at 800-772-1213
