A Japanese coworker of mine has just arrived in Washington, DC to begin his new assignment as a correspondent for a Japanese media company called NIKKEI. The man, Mr. Tobita, needs to get a social security number to apply for press credentials to cover the White House, State Department and Pentagon. Does Mr. Tobita need to make an appointment to apply for a social security card at the 1300 D Street, Southwest, DC social security office? And is there a way to apply for an appointment on-line? Also, what documents should Mr. Tobita bring with him when he comes to the social security office to apply for his social security card? Thanks, Steve Keefe Assistant to Mr. Tobita
