It takes a hundred years to become a symbol of this university, a historic site considered by modern people, how much brainpower and effort must be spent here! What is surprising is that almost all universities have quite beautiful buildings and even building groups, some of which are astonishingly large in scale. This is accumulation, precipitation...

I'm not sure if anything "special" is going on, looks pretty standard to me, but that link will show you everything going on by day.
An entire day, if you want to see everything at a comfortable walking pace. Since admission is free, if you have more than a day in the city, you can make at least two separate visits so you don't get too overwhelmed.
Food can be great look around surrounding locations as well. It is D.C. so things will be a little pricey...plus remember it helps maintain the Museums!
I think the National Art gallery also has a good Vietnam war section from the point of view of Vietnamese who supported the South. A view often drowned out by anti war activists
The American History Museum has a large cafeteria on the lower level. It has hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken tenders and it also has a salad bar, BBQ and several other options. It also has dessert and candy. It is one of the better museum cafeteria food options of all the Smithsonian Institutions, except the Air and Space Museum.

They herd you out at 5:30 (17:30). People who work at the museum push you out to the nearest exit. If you showed up right before 5:30 you would have a few minutes before you would have to leave

Hi Alexis, the National Museum of American History has more than 1.8 million objects of all kinds to preserve for the American people as an enduring record of their past. Several well known artifacts that we currently have on display include the flag that inspired the National Anthem, the hat Abraham Lincoln wore when he was assassinated at Ford's theater, the first teddy bear, Thomas Jefferson's writing desk, the First Ladies' gowns, and even Julia Child's kitchen. Also on October 19th, the ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz will be put back on display. I hope this helps and we look forward to having you visit the National Museum of American History!

The spark lab is great for kids over 6. Kids there can built several different arts and crafts projects at no cost. The room next to it is for toddlers with lots of toys and a little jungle gym to play in. Additionally the movie theater occasionally plays movies for kids such as Clifford and Mr Rodgers neighborhood. These all all free. The exhibits such as cars and life size trains are fun for kids, you kids should have a blast at this museum.
