I found two baby birds on my driveway summer 2017. I wanted to help them but I couldn't be late for PJ Harvey in CP! I couldn't back out my driveway either run them over so I scooped em up, put em in a room inside a box w water and mushy cat food (in a closed room I have cats!) And next day I called Raptor Trust. They took them in said they'd be in an incubator. What an awesome foundation! I'm in union county it was quite a drive but beautiful and worth it the baby sparrows didn't become sparrow tartare!

Great place a short distance up the hill that rehabs all sorts of wild birds...good place to visit for a relaxing stroll for all old and young to visit and contribute to a great cause!

Wonderful place to take our two grandchildren. We read books about eagles, owls etc before we went. Good experience for all of us.

Larry. Many of our birds here at The Raptor Trust are in aviaries with nylon netting or wire. While many photographers have taken good pictures here, our focus is on the well-being and safety of the birds and not necessarily on the perfect photo opportunity. We do run a special event for photographers called "Focus on Raptors" several times each year that allows special access to the birds for pictures. You can contact our education dept if you are interested in that. Thanks
Open every day! We do sometimes have emergency closures, mostly in the winter when the pathways are icy and dangerous, but Mother's Day should be fine!
They will take the bird even when the place is not open. Keep the bird warm and you can leave it in a animal carier there. They supply heating pads and a sheet to fill out about info on where you found the bird and such.
Hi Sophia. Birds don't eat potatoes. Good for the compost though!
Before. Ringing the doves to Raptor I would recommend first contacting them by phone or email. You will need to have a request form on email before bringing. If you just bring they may not accept them.
We have approximately 40 permanent "ambassadors" here. Almost all of the raptors that occur regularly in NJ are on display (hawks, owls, eagles, falcons) plus a few bonus non-raptors. Thanks!
Thanks for thinking of us but we would not have a use for them.
Every day!
Service dogs are allowed, though we ask that they be monitored very carefully and kept from approaching the birds' enclosures directly. Our birds on display are wild and can be easily disturbed. If the birds become agitated, we may ask that the dog be moved away, though a dog under close supervision and control is not likely to be an issue.
Please call our infirmary between 9am and 4:30pm. They can give the best advice. 908-647-2353. Thanks.
All raptors, including owls, are protected by state and federal law and cannot be kept as pets. The Raptor Trust holds all of the requires permits and licenses for the rehabilitation of raptors.
Yes. Our paths are gravel, so you may need to give an extra push, but people with strollers and wheelchairs can get around. Not super easy, but do-able. See our website to make a reservation for a visit. Thanks, The Raptor Trust
Hello Reaper. I'm not sure I understand your question. The Raptor Trust is a wildlife rehabilitation center. We take in wild birds, provide care and treatment, and whenever possible, release them back into the wild. We are not a "sanctuary" to provide permanent home for domestic birds. If your budgie is injured or ill, it should go to vet. If you are trying to find a home for it, unfortunately we cannot provide that. You can, however, call our infirmary. We do keep a list of people willing to take in domestic birds. We may be able to point you in the right direction.
Jaimy. This is the Raptor Trust responding. We are not allowed to take birds from out of state right now, but there are wildlife rehab centers in every state. Your state Fish and Game Commission has a list of licensed rehab professionals. They are probably your best resource. Your local animal control office may also know where the wildlife centers are. Good luck! The Raptor Trust.
you need to call to make an appt for drop off w everything that is going on. call and leave a message tonight, do as the other person said, put the duck in a box w water, don't worry about food and a towel or blanket for the duck to sit on and call again tomorrow. I dropped a bird off there a couple weeks ago, super easy, they were super helpful and they promised to help the bird asap.
Always call before. Everything works out better when you know more information beforehand
We take in most of our rehab birds in the spring and summer during breeding season. As many as 6,000 per year! There are 50 permanent resident education birds here year round for people to visit and learn from.
Please call our medical team at 908 647 2353 ext 1. They will be in after 9am
Free. Always. Donations gladly accepted....we are a nonprofit and receive no govt funding.
No pets allowed. And don't bring them and leave in your hot car. The authorities will be called.
In my opinion doesnt mean im right but i was always told if you find a dead animal leave it outside away from the house and let other animals the carnivores to eat it. I hate seeing dead or injured birds but thats nature and thats what i was told to leave it outside for other animals it will be gone in the morning. But if you find a live injured bird take it to raven trust they will take any bird and they have vets there to help them and they stay to heal then are released to the wild again. Great place i support it 100 percent good luck
Plz call Raptur Trust asap. Let them know.
Drop it off at Raptor Trust. they will rehabilite it, have a vet look at it. When healed release iy
Actually adopt- as in take a Bird of prey home with you? No. You can leave a donation though! They also have sponsored aviaries.
