Brought my two kids to this lodge for a wonderful overnight trip. When I got to my room it was about 90 degrees in the room. There is no AC and I knew that but there are no real windows to open to provide air in the bunk bed room. The expectation was for me to keep the door open all night. How can a mom feel safe with her 2 children alone with a door open all night? So my options were keep the hot door open all night or try to sleep in 90 degree heat. When I brought this to the front desk her response was you can put a bucket of ice in front of a fan to stay cool. It wasn’t until I sat in the lobby and refused to leave did she offer me a different room. This is not the experience I expected to have at 10:18pm after driving 4.5 hours. If it were not dark and I was afraid to drive back I would have left this hotel. Don’t waste the money. If you can come to Yosemite park but save your money on the “crappie “hotel.

We had such a wonderful time on our vacation to Yosemite National Park. We stayed for 5 nights. The staff was great, especially Cynthia, Steven & Mike. Cynthia was able to move our 4 separate bookings into one, which made it especially helpful while traveling with children. Steven was knowledgeable and able to help us when we needed assistance and was able to quickly answer our questions. We requested extra blankets twice during our stay and Mike was full of energy and very friendly. We stayed in Elderberry and loved the view from our back porch, where we could see Yosemite Falls. The Yosemite gift shop next to the front desk had such a friendly cashier too. The shuttle drivers were great and we especially loved the Valley Floor Tour. We mostly ate at Base Camp Eatery and made a reservation for our last night at The Mountain Room restaurant.

The rooms are rustic and dated but beds were comfortable and room was clean. No wifi?? Outside patios and seating was a nice feature. Water for shower/tub was tricky as handle needed to be straight up to get warmest temp. Any movement to the left (more hot) got you cooler temps.

Location, location, location. Private lodges and hotels are a decent drive from the valley on slow, windy roads and affordable places (<$100) even farther. We came in winter and stayed for two nights at lower than high season rates. More than we typically spend on a hotel but to be able to walk out our door and be on a trail in 5 minutes and not deal with traffic in the morning is lovely. Multiple food and coffee options close by and a free shuttle services if you don't want to drive around. The staff has been great and informative. The basic queen bed room has a TV, fridge/coffee, table, dresser, lounge chair, bed (of course) and two night stands, all made from real wood. The bathroom is well stocked with blow dryer, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and hand soap, all in dispensers to avoid wasted small plastic containers. Rooms have both trash and recycling. The only thing I wish we had is a microwave but there is one for public use in the main building and multiple places next door for buying food. Overall, we have really enjoyed our stay.

I've seen one guy asking about internet on el capitan so he can play Minecraft now someone's asking for Starbucks. I'm surprised no one has asked about taco bell in the grand canyon. What a pathetic world we live in.
Why would you not contact the lodge directly with a question like this? 🤦
Yes, check with the front desk. More than likely they may have your room ready.
They should check website ot call directly
Yosemite Valley Lodge IS inside the park.
Hi Annette, that indicates that we are fully booked on those dates. You may continue to check back for cancellations, but we definitely recommend booking in advance. Thank you!
Probably, but I don't know for sure.
Not much snow
Yes, outdoor, jacuzzi included in the price of your room.
Depends on the weather. Definitely take along chains. Hikes you mentioned are summer activities. Contact the ranger station or visitors center for more info.
Yes in front of lodge
There is no room for it. We had a travel cot with us, that was just right.
Yes there is hot water, or you can bring a camp stove.
The deposit (one day) is lost if you cancel. They are pretty flexible about moving the dates if you need too.
Yeah, there are elevators and they are quite well decorated too.
Only at housekeeping camp which is a drive away by bus or car.
Generally 12 months in advance, but I think it may actually be closer to 14 or 16 months. You can cancel for free up to 7 days before. So I like to book a few very early out and then cancel if I don't need it.
Got mine for $232.73 per night, Traditional Room 1 King.
Sorry about that Thanks for interest
The lodge is about 80 miles from the Amtrak station in Merced if that's where you're going. You'll have to transfer to a YARTS bus to get to the valley. I'm pretty sure that the YARTS bus stops at the lodge. I've never tried taking an Amtrak to Yosemite, so I may be wrong.
Maybe he's talking about the Yosemite Lodge, but it's not exactly located on the banks of the Merced River. But very close.
No
The park allows pets, though the lodge does NOT allow pets except for service dogs.
Basecamp can make their burgers with GF buns, they also have many gf options in the a la carte. I would mention about the Celiac disease and ensure that there's no cross contamination though! Also Degnans has GF options, but they shared the equipment with non-GF food, so would be careful there.
