Fantastic and stunning views over the Yosemite Park Valley. Probably up there as one of the best backdrop of mountains in the world outside of Switzerland. Access by walking or car with some amenties at Glacier Point. We had the pleasure of interacting with one of the Rangers and found it very informative.

One of the best spot you should keep in your list to Yosemite visit. We visited during 2021 thanksgiving Below are highlights 1. You can park car near the spot as there is lot of parking lot 2. I think it’s max .5 miles of total round walk 4. You will see all major spots Yosemite falls (upper and lower) El Capitan Half dome Mirror Lake Nevada/Vernal falls 5. Take lot of pics

It If your looking for an amazing place with a spectacular view this is the place! It has many gorgeous views with multiple waterfalls with an amazing lush forest from every side. It also has mountains soaring across the valley with multiple cliff hundreds to thousands of feet off the ground. I definitely recommend this spectacular place!

Glacier Point is one of the highlights of a visit to Yosemite. Any time of day is good, but probably later in the day for better photo light would be optimal. A sign there says it's one of the best views in the world, and I wouldn't argue. We got there around 1pm and had a picnic at a viewpoint, which was so special. Takes a half hour from the main road to travel the slow, winding 17 mile road. On the way down, we stopped for the Sentinal Dome hike, a fairly easy 2 mile RT hike to a large, granite dome-shaped rock that gave another splendid view of the valley and Half Dome. Another highly recommended hike. Only the last part up the dome rock takes a bit of athletic ability, but most hikers would have no problem.

You need to contact the parks and rec department and the main office

Fyi, parking was fine at 10am on 6/29. It was pretty bad at 11:30 though.
The road gets really narrow right at Glacier Point, but they take tourist buses in and out of there so a 25-foot motorhome should fit. I've never noticed if they have parking for a vehicle that large at Glacier Point.
Well you kinda don't get to
My understanding is Glacier point is closed right now due to the Ferguson fire
From the parking lot !!! 😂😂😂
Yes, it is open until end of month. Check with park web site for exact date.
Groveland and nearby areas. Also, Wawona, Fish Camp and associated areas
It does snow and does close for a period...
You can...but... It's a long winding road. But a lot cooler in a car..😀😎
Closed for the winter
Paved or gravel. Just take it easy and go slow. Four wheel drive isn't a bad thing either. The view is incredibly beautiful.
Keep a good hand on the leash. Not a good place for loose dog. Guard rails are not made to keep dogs safe from falls, and lots of squirrels and other wildlife. Bobcat's and bears will see a dog as a meal opportunity after dark.
It is usually a drive, it does have a short hike available as well, from the point.
All depends on climate check online for more info.i have visited in june only. Thanks
They have 5 spots for bus's and is worth the trip. Drive the loop and it's on the top side the bus makes it!
No it closes during the winter do to snow
Correct
Remains closed due to air quality, maybe a few weeks south gate areas are open now
If you do not already use TripAdvisor. Definitely go on there and post that question. There is a user that will answer your question and give you very very good advice
I went early (9.30am, it was busy but we got parking....those arriving as we left at 11.30am were all queued to get a space. Can't say it'll always be like that, just a personal experience. Enjoy.
You seem to be confusing the geology of Yellowstone National Park with Yosemite. Yellowstone is related to volcanic formation but Yosemite is glacially sculpted ancient granite.
It's just few minutes, but driving there would be a better option.
The valley may be hard to book unless way in advance. It's always busy there. If you're coming from the South, Wawona/BigTrees Lodge is lovely. Cabins in Yosemite West or The Redwoods are good too. Outside the park to the South is the town of Fish Camp. I don't know what lodging might be available there. Just outside the park to the West are Mariposa and El Portal with some options. To the North, you can check out Rush Creek Lodge (brand new) or a multitude of VRBO/AirBnB between Groveland and the North gate. Yosemite Lakes has mini cabins, hook ups and camping.
No volcanoes. I went there last week, it was sunny, but not hot. Usually during winter glacier point is closed.
Wrong Paul, road to GP is NOT OPEN ALL YEAR
My family and I we went on the 16th and they were making all the cars make a line and wait for like 30 minutes in order to keep going toward glacier point because it was full and then there were people who didn't want to wait in line and decided to turn back. Also after the wait, we were on our way there we saw control fires and firefighters monitoring the fires. Nothing dangerous because it was a control fire but I don't know if that might be the reason why they didn't let you continue
