Jury duty was not fun. I didn't personally interact with the staff, but they were not like the DMV. Everyone was super nice, super professional and the Jury lounge was super comfortable. Good to see a government office taking customer service serious. Great job.

Shamefully deplorable service to the population they serve; the staff is never available to answer the phone, it says call back later, and DISCONNECTS. I'd give it -0- stars if possible, since they are unavailable for service over the phone. Thankfully I practice in Wake, where the courthouse IS accessible by phone; thank you, Blair Williams.

JURY SUMMONS received and had to perform my civic duties or else face fines and penalties... So, the letter said to arrive at 9 am. Well the line to enter the courthouse was hanging out the door because of the security check in process. After that there was probably about 100 people waiting in a line to get checked in for jury duty. After that, we were confined to the jury room and not allowed to leave except for breaks and lunch. Rough Outline of this experience... @10 am to 10:15 we had a break and we're allowed to leave jury room. @ 12 pm they called the first group for jury duty. I was not called. @ 12:20 pm to 1:55 we did lunch. Nothing was provided. No food was provided. So, you had to figure it out for yourself. @ 2 pm they called the 2nd group for jury duty. I was not called. @ 2:15 pm to 2:30 pm we took a break. @ 2:45 pm they called the 3rd group for jury duty. I was not called. @ 3:30 pm they called the 4th and last group for jury duty. I was not called. @4:30 pm we were allowed to leave since we had not been selected for a jury. I did talk with some of the others who had been selected for jury duty. From their statements, it was a bunch of sitting around and mainly waiting for court proceedings to start. Then when things were about to start, they would take a break. So, given how late in the day groups were being pulled in for jury duty, unsure if they had to return the next day to finish their civil jury duty services. From my understanding, you are only compensated if chosen to serve on a jury. The compensation is like $12 a day. If more than 3 days, then it's like $20 a day. If more than 5 days, it's like $40 a day. I didn't actually read the materials on it since I wasn't selected, however, I'm not sure how that is even remotely fair compensation for performing a civil service. Overall, whoever, established this jury duty process needs to be summoned for Jury Duty because the entire process is beyond broken. Honestly, it felt like I was being punished in order to provide judgment on someone else's alleged criminal activities. I guarantee if the people who established this process had to undergo it, then some things would definitely change. For the entire day, we were allowed 1 free small coffee from Courthouse Cafe. The Courthouse Cafe employees were super friendly and really refreshing after a whole day of waiting. Being honest, I'm not sure how well someone is supposed to function, evaluate a court case and/or even render a judgment after this process. Everyone was drained and annoyed with the process before even getting into the courtroom. Justice may be allegedly blind, but if summoned, you better be prepared and have high levels of patience. Pack snacks/meals, books, games, laptop, phone, batteries and chargers because it going to be a lot of waiting!!

What a hard place to deal with. Would not recommend.

Welcome to Mecklenburg county where no one is held accountable and it is biology over safety of the child. That has been our experience.
They’re all almost always rude. It’s annoying at this point, because you literally work for the people.
9am like the others
Since my divorce has been finalized. Where do I pick up my divorce papers at. What is required and is there a fee
No lockers
$225 for an absolute divorce $10 if you want your maiden name back and $30 to have to sherriff Serve him with papers
You can go to the courthouse. On the 4th floor and request divorce papers. According to NC law, you must be separated from your ex for 1 year. The cost currently is around $275. This includes having copies, notary, and having your ex served. If you wish to change back to your maiden last name, there is an additional $10 fee.
How to find out if I have to go to court today
How did you get issued a ticket?
Did you contact your lawyer? Google "Mecklenburg County Civil Pleading Lookup"
Gonna have to come check the log.
There is a large public deck at the corner of 4th and McDowell.. you can enter off of either 4th or Elizabeth. You take a ticket upon entry and pay at a kiosk located next to the elevators. You will be charged by the hour. There is also metered street parking on 3d if you can find a spot but you must be moved by 4pm. There is a 2d public deck at 3d and Davidson.. enter off Davidson.
See the self help center on the third floor.
Typically you can mail paperwork to the Clerk of Court. Include a stamped self-addressed envelope with an extra copy of the paperwork to be filed, as well as a cover letter asking the Clerk to stamp the original and copy, file the original, and return the stamped copy to you using the included envelope.
Free is always good.
Tuesday through Thursdays.. Like any other high volume business.. the busiest days are ALWAYS going to be Friday, for all the last minute types. And Mondays, for all the get this out of the way types. You can thank me later. Good luck.
Go to the self serve center on the 3rd floor of the court house.
Probably Monday morning
It depends on the type of error. I suggest you start on the 2nd floor, and go to the clerk's office.

I think you may need to stay married.
The wedding is $20.00 cash. The marriage license is $60.00. I hope this helps.
I think you may have to show this information to the District Attorney who is only in at the 832 E. 4th St. location room 2132 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-12pm 2pm-4pm. I hope this helps.
Seems to be operating on a delay. I had a juror summons originally set for 8a show up time, showed up as requested, and the security officers said only employees are allowed in now, jurors to report at 11:30a.
