This is the second time hubby and I have been here. Did the loop in the middle, beaver creek to little carp to mirror lake to summit point and its parking lot again. Was absolutely fantastic except for the darn mosquitos. We wore some initially but it wore off! Thankfully fellow hikers helped us out but be aware after rainy days! Also some of the boardwalk planks were broken, loose or getting to be so careful! Saw some chipmunks and frogs but sadly nothing else. Might have scared others away with our swatting. Will be back again to try other hikes

Absolutely stunning area full of trees, flowers, edible plants, fungi, and plenty of animals too. We rented campsite 28 at the Union Bay Campground which was right on the shore of Superior. It sounded like we were staying right on an ocean. I had no idea Superior was so loud! But in a good way. Perfect white noise for sleeping and we couldn't hear any of our camping neighbors at all which gave us a feeling of privacy we don't often get at a campground. We spent most of the day one day just sitting on the smooth Rocky shore near our site looking at rocks, loons, and plants. Lake of the Clouds is a short distance from the campground and well worth the trip. Highly recommend long pants and bug spray for that short trek as there are plenty of mosquitos and biting flies. We will be back again sometime soon!!

We were here over memorial day weekend, and it was our first visit to the Porcupine Mountains. We stayed in the Union Bay campground in site 28 right on the water. We could not have dreamed of a more beautiful location to camp. The entire campground was nice, but I am very happy we had a spot on the water. We came after a massive rainstorm and everything was very wet and muddy, but not so much in the spots by the lake. Going to sleep at night with the sound of the waves on Lake Superior was wonderful for a "needs white noise to sleep" kind of gal like me. We spent multiple hours walking along the shore and looking at the rocks and water. It was a wonderful experience!

I went on Halloween 2021 it was pretty empty. Leaves were almost all off. I would recommend two weeks earlier. Still beautiful to visit! We went to the lake on the clouds. It was beautiful as well. Recommend camping outside for sure!

You have to hike 1and half miles to get to the Yurts
Four (4) available at $68 per night each site.
Pets are welcome in the park. They have to be on at most of 6 foot leash and accompanied at all times. Pets are not allowed in any state owned buildings unless they are service animals.
Yes, both tent and RV camping, but need advance reservation at MI DNR website. Have modern restrooms and showers, very clean. They also serve coffee in the morning. Many camp sites are waterfront, and cost the same as non-waterfront sites. Have 20/30 amps hook up but there are no sewage hook up. There is a dump station though.
Some can be seen from roadways but most are a hike thru the woods.
Are you talking for entry to the park? Then you just need the recreation passport, here is information on that: https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-350-79134_79210---,00.html
I agree with Mr. Adler. But don't let that hold you back. Very nice shower house. Great views. We spent 11 nights and loved it.
Thank you ... What one do you recommend? Maybe a 4 hour one with the water falls
Is it free to camp there ? If so how long are you aloud to camp there ?
I haven't been there since snow fall, not sure of any bicycle paths that give awesome photos, awesome photos are hiking paths/walk paths

Yes
There are several major waterfalls along the presque isle river on the West end of the state park
You can. http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/Details.aspx?id=426&type=SPRK
If you will be camping overnight I believe you need a permit.
Backpacking is allowed. However, dispersed camping is no longer allowed. You must reserve your campsites for each night in advance. Pay attention to the distances You can make reservations online at their website. One advantage is that you know you have a campsites. Most of them are pretty spread out from one another no crowding with other people
I think you still have to check in.
Yes, South Boundary Road is East/West road through the park
If you use the reservation website, it will let you know which sites are level and which sites can fit a large RV. Online reservation not only helps you find a good spot for your rig, but it will save you money and time when you get to your campsite
Park hours are from 8am-8pm and are broken down as such: Park Headquarters 8am-10am Visitor center 10am-6pm Union bay campground 6pm-8pm Pretty sure the minimum age is 18 for a single camper.
Only black bears around. Police up your campsite and your fridge should be fine.
Just about anything you can think of that you can do outdoors plus they're a lot of local things to do within 30 min to an hour drive
No, all of the cabins are rustic. The lodge is modern with electricity and restrooms though, Kaug Wudjoo lodge.
If you get the state park pass with your. your licence plate tabs each year you will have already paid. It costs $10. That is what i do, so i am unsure ood a daily pass
