I love this State Park pool. It is worth buying a STATE PARK PASS if your going to visit STATE Parks. 50 dollars for the year. This pool has a slide lots of hiking paths.

Love the huge sites at Shakamak! I am used to parks with barely room to open awning or slide out on camper. At Shakamak, there was plenty of room!

Those of us closer to Indy don’t hear about Shakamak as much since it’s farther away but we’re missing out. It looks like a great place to take a family. They have cabins and a large pool area. I came here for a hike. Trail 1 is great. Great Lake views and some of the best aquatic plant life I’ve seen in Indiana. They keep the trail in great shape although there are a few areas that need maintenance. I saw many people fishing as well.

If you like fishing, moderate to easy hiking trails. This place is awesome. Camp sites are large gravel pads on most. Installing new modem pit toilets in the remote areas. They also had share a book boxes around the campground, grandson loved that.

Starting August 9, 2021 the pool will be open weekends only through Labor Day
Actually, the pool opened early this year. It opened yesterday because of how hot it was outside.
Pool hours can vary, based on lifeguard availability, particularly close to the end of the summer season. To get the most up to date schedule, call the office at (812) 665-2158.
Not sure, but I think you can camp year round.
No, just a $7 (in state) entry to the park. You must have s valid Indiana fishing license.
Rustic cabins are 1-26, more modern cabins are lakeview cabins and B,C,orD. All the cabins are nice! Lakeview has a beautiful view over the lake!!
As long as the dog is not tetatorial, quiet ( not barking the entire time), and on a six foot leash. You need to clean up after your dog and do not let it chase the inhabitants of the area. Personally, I don't recommend it. It sounds like an accident waiting to happen.
They don't have horse rides at Shakamak anymore
The park entry fee applies to all guests who enter the park. If you wish to use the pool often, an annual pass may be of interest. Full details on entry fees can be found here: https://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/5062.htm
If you are an Indiana resident, the Senior annual park pass is $25 for 2018. Go to the Indiana DNR website.
Water usually not turned on until May. Depending on weather and temperatures staying above freezing if it gets turned on early.
It's south of Terre Haute. About 15 to 20 min. Nice camping spots on outside loops.
Camping is available all year round, but water at sites and bath houses I believe are not available after end of October. Electric is still on.
Algae that highly toxic to humans and domesticated animals. They have a really nice swimming pool.
Less than $100 a night when we started two weeks ago.
12-7 :)
According to the post on Facebook there are no age restrictions? I would call the park and ask?
I'm not sure because of the carona virus. The best way to find out is on their website.
2:00pm. $36 per night
Depends on when you book it...Naturally holidays it would be higher...but book way in advance because they are probably all booked up for this year...you would have to call office to see if any available
They should have that info on their web site...I'm not sure without looking it up. It is a beautiful and clean State Park.
Nice place to winter camp. Cabins are very reasonable and clean with heat and hot showers! We love it there.
When you wake.
Dunno, I only hiked and a dip in the pool.
The park itself is open every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. The pool's hours and days may vary. Contact the office at (812) 665-2158 for the most up to date information.
Good
It was like 5 dollars an hour or 12 dollars for 4 hours. Then they have a 24 hour rate to but I don't remember it.
It will be super crowded...but enjoy!!!
Call or Google it.
McCormick's Creek State Park and Brown County State Park both offer horseback riding opportunities. Other parks have horse trails but not rentals.
Ok thanks . I was there end may and it was not going yet just pool part thanks all for info
I guess it depends on how you want other boys to look at your daughter.
They dont allow big motorized boats there also they do allow smaller with trailing moter
No you get one parking pass
No there's not it's the same price
Yes they're open to swim. We went yesterday.
No, not anymore. There was in the past. There is a large pool by the nature center. Summit Lake has a beach. Of course, Indiana Dunes has a beach, Lake Monroe has a couple beaches, Pokagon State Park has a couple beaches, Deam Lake/ beach, Brookville Lake, Morse Park &Beach in Hamilton County has a beach, and there are others. Check out the state reservoirs... I believe Salamonie has a beach, and the list continues...
Check website but I know they are really busy renting them out there not easy to get
Sometime around memorial day
Not that I'm aware of
$16 a night just for the campsite. Plus gate fee of course.
I have not stayed there, but, it is relatively new. Great trails there. It's a nice park
Go to Shakamak State Park.com or call them directly.
Everything
Yes. They built new shower houses several years ago. For both primitive and electric areas.
Pool is closed for the season, Labor day weekend is the last time is open this year
Hi Beth. Please call our park office so we can better assist you. Our number is 812-665-2158.
Yes.,but its been lightning so they wont let anyone swim .
Yes
The refund amount changes the closer you get to the reservation date. That's for all Indiana State Parks
Lakeview A & B and cabin B are completely wheelchair accessible. Cabins C and D have ramps to get in/out but the shower is not and the appliances are not wheelchair/handicap friendly
The State parks are open years round.
My son inlaw bass fishes this is his favorite place to fish
Pay 3 bucks a person and they let you in the pool.
$4.00 for each 30 minutes.
There are no horses there anymore. I don't think the horse trails are available any longer.
The whole park takes credit card and debit cards. And yes it's $3 per person. Yesterday they lost the ability to take CC for a while but it's back up and running.
Yes you are. But they have a limit on people allowed at each campsite so they kinda block that out. I think you are only allowed 6 people per site but may be 8
Some cabins yes. It depends on which cabins you rent. The website tells you if the bathrooms are in the cabin or a shared public restroom
Yes you need a license, yes they rent row boats and paddle boats. Row boats were $20 per 24 hours last i was there.
When we went last year and the previous year, the family cabins were $40/day in 7 day increments. We ordered almost a year in advance to make sure we could get several adjacent to each other. They let us pay for half up front and half closer to the date.
Yes. The modern restrooms are used as shelters for tornadoes or severe weather
During the summer, pool hours may change because of weather and staffing. Please contact the property office for exact times before your visit. You can call us at 812-665-2158.
I have never seen any at the campground when we have been there or at turkey run also but I am not sure what the exact rules are
It's open from noon to 7pm.....i am positive on the hours....it does not open until 12pm
7pm, $3 for pool entrance and $7 for the park unless you have the annual pass
If you are speaking of a boat you will need a DNR sticker for a motorized boat unless you are rowing, them non-motorized, but still need a sticker, they have them at the front gate or the park office
Water is on in Michigan, so should be on in Indiana
If you are in cabin, yes. Not sure about the campsites.
There are 3 cabins that are not on the lake, but they are a little larger. They are $50's a night. The rest of the cabins on the lake are $40. This is what I was told when I called about reservations on 4/18.
Yes, toilet, shower and sink. Kitchen with cabinets, sink stove and fridge/freezer AC/Heat
If u walk a lot, best to buy a season pass. If u come during off season it would be no charge, but during seasonal times there is a charge.
I am pretty sure sites 32 through about 36 will work for you, nothing behind you, not too close to the next site, you can see them online @ reserve site
Row boats and paddle boats. I don't recall the prices, but they are very cheap and the lake is beautiful. We rented a paddle boat and had a great time!
No, its been in the 40° during the past few days, and around 50 tomorrow Afternoon.
Brown County State Park, very near there, has a big horsemans campground.
Most parks are 0500. Go to Google, and type the state parks name and look it up, ALL the time's and rules are on there website.
I would think its just like the campground 2:00.
