Spent 3 nights and was very happy. Campground was very clean and bathrooms well maintained. A Camp host was always available and they were visible throughout the grounds during the day. Camp store well stocked! The only bummer is that their ice delivery for the week didn't make it so we had to drive out to DeMotte to get ice daily. While it wasn't planned, it provided the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the North Rim even more.

For starters, try your best to get here in the daylight. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we arrived after dark, and while normally not a problem, this campground is in complete darkness and signage isn’t great on where to check in/see a map. We stopped at the campground host, and although it wasn’t late (just dark), he was a complete a**hole. We just needed a bit of direction. He should absolutely not be in the job of camp host. An old white guy who doesn’t like to help campers. Big thumbs down. The campground is great and spaces are spaced out. No hookups with limited generator use hours. There is a laundromat and showers (you’re supposed to use $1.50 in quarters for the showers) but the water turned on without them. Four shower stalls but only 2 that worked so there was always a line. Laundromat and showers close at 8 pm. General store was very well stocked and prices weren’t bad. Young dark haired girl was there every day and was so kind and helpful. Campfire wood was $7. The one way loop through the campground is easy but for some spaces on the left, your camper door will be facing the wrong direction. Just something to think about when choosing your spot. (There was not enough room for us to park the opposite way and get back out.) Many great views really close to the campground. About 1.5 mile hike to the visitor center and Lodge.

The place is excellent from the point of view of Nature. Lack of site management. The areas are independent and there is no connection and/or coordination between them. Lack of kindness with the people who visit the place. The offer of lunch dishes is poor, limited to sandwiches and hamburgers.

My partner and I stayed two nights here. First night we reserved online, which was easy to do. We stayed had a nice campground. It was so beautiful there we decided to stay a 2nd night if the campground had availability. We lucked up and they had a cancellation. So we packed up our tent and moved to another site right on the edge of the canyon!!! It was beautiful and breathtaking!! Staff was super friendly and helpful!! Can't wait to go back!! Pictures don't do it justice!!

I believe it will open to camping around 1st of July, that is what the ranger told us. It's open for day use now.
Generator use is limited to the hours of 7:00 am to 9:00 am and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Generators cannot be used outside of these hours. There are no hookups. https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232489
https://www.recreation.gov search the North Rim on this site. This site books almost all federal government camping within Nation Parks
Yes. If you had reservation. Have reservation.
There is a map on the website that shows which are tent only sites and which are tent or RV.
Although the status for the North Rim is still in flux, they opened today, Tuesday June 30th, for Day Use only. Larry's right; check the website for accurate information.
Check out Kaibab RV park. Very nice people and super friendly. You are just outside the park. Is about a 50 minute drive to the north rim.
Yes closed. And I don't remember any food boxes
Others have said six months in advance...VERY TRUE! I researched sites ahead of time and made a "top five" list. I ended up with my third choice six months before my trip. It's beautiful there, so I understand why it's so popular. Good luck!
I'm fairly certain they don't mind how you set up your tent. Just as long as you purchase a campsite that coralates to what kind of camping your arw doi v and the size of your party.
No. Group sites are strictly for tents. No other type of camping/sleeping is permitted.
We were at North Rim campground last week- that camp is FULL..Try Demotte campdite that is 20 min driving from North Rim .
Yes you can
As a walk up, there is tremendous risk that no sites would be available . The time to check is 11 a.m. also, due to a pump failure showers and laundry will not be available . No fires are allowed either. Only propane that can be turned on and off.
The tent only section has a parking area, you will not be able to park next to your tent. The RV sites are pull through and allow a spot for tent camping also.
There is an employee shuttle that we took to/from the camp store. During daylight, the rim trail is a nice hike to the lodge.
Reservations can be made 6 months out. Best to make them then to be sure you get a site. Very popular place! Well worth it. Great place!
Buy your wood early. The stores at the North Rim have freewheeling hours.
If they are still there after the snow melts, the answer is yes
Yes. Fee is around 18$ per night. You can get details on national parks site.
There are no outfitters at the North or South rim. You must bring what you need.
