Visited two weeks ago. It was beautiful and the trail to cat tail pond (?) was nice. If only dog owners would clean up after their dogs or not let them go on the trail where people walk/run, it would be great!

Best trails so far in the city. It's rated difficult for a reason, so plan accordingly. Too much trees to get any really good shots, but there is a binocular section we didn't try.

Do I dare say? This is The Best hiking trail in Dallas! I've been wanting to check this place out and I had no idea what I'd been missing. Parking lot gets packed pretty early on nice days, by 8am is almost full. Loved the views, the trails well marked, so cleared and opened. There are plenty of ups and downs throughout the trails and hills, you'll work up a sweat for sure. There was plenty of people hiking so it all seemed pretty safe for people going by themselves. I highly recommend and I'll definitely be visiting this place more often.

Amazing and safe place to walk and explore the nature. Awesome park. I really enjoyed the walk and the view… the hardest part was the walk back but it was worthy…. ( up hill) but love it… dont bring very small children if you want to walk the trails and complete the mission.

Manager here: Is the worry trails, animals, or people? We had 400,000 visitors in 2017, and didn't lose anyone. Fire/Rescue Station 12 is a quarter of a mile from our gate, and they know the trails and use our UTV. In the last 5 years, I know of two "people problems", and while unpleasant at the time, no one was hurt, at least physically. Most injuries are sprained ankles. Animal problems are more likely to be dogs than snakes. Our biggest problem is convincing people to take minimal precautions. Take water and your cell phone. Pay attention to where you are - trail name and mile marker. Stay on the trails. There are way too many people comfortable hiking alone, even after dark. Allow plenty of time. Remember CLOSING TIME IS DARK, a half hour after sundown. The gates will be locked an hour (or so) after sundown, and your car is then in for the night. Most of the ones who get locked in say it was their first time at CRP and they got lost.
I went there last weekend, it's 100% open and also rather crowded.
6:30am till dark closed mondays
I believe they are only closed Mondays, and opened rain or shine.
Yes however please make sure they have proper shoes for hiking. There are some harder trails with steep inclines and declines however my son when he was three years old he was able to do it, just took longer because we needed to be careful. However there are some other Trails without the steep inclines.
Yes, closed on mondays
I'm only talking avout the parking spaces , not the park
Yes, closed Mondays, but you can park outside the gate and hike in.
No bike trails, dog driendly
Hey...yes its a free park you just walk in and the donation is optional. Its basically for helping with up keep most of the workers are volunteers. Me and the kids volunteer and go thru the trails picking up any debri to help keep it beautiful. We've never incountered anything negative here just the dog poop that folks should be mindful to pick up after there dog.
Depends on how quickly you hike. It would probably take an average hiker around 2 hours to do one main trail
There always great views of the lake but there are also more views now that the leaves have fallen. I see people with babies all the time.
I think to walk around you can but stores close at 9 or 10 pm, some restaurants are open too at that time
It's closed every Monday.
The sign says that the gate closes at dark
I am not sure if there are grills there. They di have picnic tables. I have never smelled or sen anyone grilling.
There is a trail map at the entrance. The trails are all loops that loop back to the entrance or other trails, so there is only the one place to start. Most of the rails are very short (0.5-1.5mi), but if you just hike in the biggest loop you can (possumhaw to cedar brake to fossil ridge to escarpment or something like that) it should take you a couple hours
Even when trails are closed, you can still go the very easy routes - just be certain not to wear your good shoes.
I’d be worried about the clearance for your head, on some trails. Also unless you have a bag on your horse, the droppings wouldn’t be fair to other hikers. Even dog parents take plastic bags for poo. I agree, foot traffic only.
Love this place Cedar Ridge Preserve is by far the best hiking area in Dallas county.
Trails are closed due to the muddy conditions. Follow them on Facebook they update closure info all the time.
Yes the park does close if there has been too much rain. I called Sunday after it had rained most of the week to see if it was open and they had closed it down. Personally I dont like to go when its too muddy because it also causes the trails to become eroded by foot traffic over time.
Yes
So I been scrolling through the comments and I read the regulations and u can ride your horses and you can bike ride
Not sure, but I certainly hope not. That's not safe with all the people running and walking out there, in my opinion.
Yes
Front of the parking lot. Small green shed
Unless an emergency is declared it will be open.
There are a lot of elevation changes that have steep steps. A child carry hiking backpack would be more appropriate for these trails.
Yes, many people do. The dogs look to be having a great time. Only don't let them leave their business on the trail ☺️
There are no good backdrops for a wedding and limited places for pictures. Especially this time of year. The best outdoor place in Fort Worth is the Botanical Gardens and in Dallas is the Dallas Arboretum
I'm up there pretty often and I know they are closed on Mondays but the gates tend to be open unless it's dark.
