No discount on daily fees but a vet with an honorable discharge gets 25% off annual pass to FL state parks. Service connected vets can get a free lifetime pass to FL state parks. Though you do have to renew every couple of tears. FL is the most vet friendly state!
This is an answer to someone's question. Where is the question?
If you're going to be camping you want to make reservations ahead of time because at Oscar Scherer the campsites are always full. When I make my reservation I just put that I'm a senior and it automatically deducts the discount and then I just show my driver's license when I check in.
This site has 50 amp service, with water. It is 50 feet deep 18 ft wide. Although I would recommend you looking at the site before staying on it. We stayed in a site that was 50 deep and 30 wide. Problem was that there was a tree that had a limb that grew out and took up a lot of the space. We could not open our awning.
Campsites are separate from the Halloween event. I would Imagine so unless otherwise posted. Did you check the website?
Only park officials allowed wth motorized vehicles on trails.
Yes 5 dollars per car or 2 dollars if on bike or walking
Yes you will do very well there
Its a designated area for swiming.
It's like 60 bucks for regular people not sure about the veteran cost. At any rate, it's well worth the value if you visit Florida state parks often. Have had mine for some time, well worth it and pays for itself after just a few visits. Highly recommend getting the annual.
For camping just click Veteran rates and show your ID when you get there. For day passes the same thing.
Yes
Yes each site had fire pits.
The Legacy trail that is paved goes by the park for a long bike ride into town after your picnic.
Yes
If the site you want is available through Reserve America.
Not sure, but I went there a couple of days ago and a note at the door sad that tbe facility was closed....you can call the park and ask
Opened on the 21st, and Maria is correct 1 section closed. Also they're doing some social distancing with sites
No but you can bring your own camping gear to a ground with bathrooms provided for you.
You have to plan ahead and book it on their website. It's a nice place. If it doesn't work out try Myakka State park. Close, big and nice!
Yes
Use Reserve America. You can only stay for 14 consecutive days.
I think it's allowed by the terms of the type of places or businesses you can do community service, but whether or not the park itself allows it, I don't know. Give em a call.
You'll want to go to the Reserve America website to look for reservations, but to echo Matthew this time of year most state parks are booked solid
The viewing area for the eagle's nest is right next to the campground area if you're in the campground there should be a map there that tells you exactly where it is
Connie Snyder's review I agree with. Good info. But it's camp grounds very small no privacy....
I was there today. I rented two kayaks myself. There are double and single kayaks as well as canoes. Prices are also very good. If you want to see the houses along the river go right. If you want to see more nature and wildlife go left. I rented around 1:30 so they rent all day.
They didn't ask me for any proof of vaccinations for my dog.
Nature.
There is a beach on Lake Osprey. This is a freshwater lake. There is no camping on the lake. There is camping on the river, but it isn't a good place to swim, and you can't launch kayaks from you site.
Worth every penny of it, spent father's day there with 3 generations of family. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. We need more places like this. THANK YOU TO ALL THE EMPLOYEES AT THE PARK, YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME. Be back soon!👍👍
It is all the same rate for every one, the only difference is for a Florida State seniors.
Please check the Florida Department of Natural Resources website or call the park office during regular business hours.
Please check the Florida Department of Natural Resources website or contact the ranger's office during normal business hours.
The temps in june are around the mid to upper 90s plus around 95% humidity. For tent camping its fairly hot, since the nights don't cool off much. Best time for tent camping in florida is november-april
There are several larger picnic areas that would handle those. Obviously not a camp site
Most campsites allow pets, except some next to the creek. Outside the campsites, pets must be on a leash.
The campsites are all the same price I believe. They may have a few tent sites without water or electric that might be cheaper but a regular site large or small is $30 a day unless you are disabled or sixty five or older. All sites must be reserved through reserve america.
There is both RV and tent camping spots. Best to call as usually they are booked up FAR in advance!
Yes, just tell tell your guest to check in at the ranger station that they are just visiting. If your vehicle, you will need a sticker in your windshield with your campsite number. Normally they will not charge your guests unless they are staying the night.
It is not a free park however inexpensive. All park access included with camping. Worth it!
Most state parks limit you to 14 days "during periods of high demand." You must then leave for 3 days before returning. You may stay a maximum of 56 days in any 6 month period. The park manager has the ability to extend a stay, asst their discretion and based on availability, to extend a stay up to an additional 14 nights. The maximum continuous stay in any one park is 28 nights. This is from the Florida State Parks website.
Hm. This answer is useless but it's open again
Yes
Yes, if you camp. If you're camping it is best to make reservations. I am not sure about pricing if you just want to go in for awhile.
