parkin is difficult but the views make up for it. The bridge looks off into the river with so many wildflowers and foliage. Lots of wineberries and blackberries to enjoy on the hike!

Did not pass the vibe check. Packed! Kids were pop in off fireworks. Litter everywhere. Unless it was an off day.. not worth the walk. All the places to park are “no parking” zones and folks were ticketed. Didn’t stay long enough to walk the entire trail but the bridge is cool.

what a wonderful surprise to stumble upon this little foot bridge on hike today. i hiked there from the river road trail parking lot. there’s no parking along the street by the bridge.

Questions & Answers

Can you get into the park and use the trails before 9 a.m. when the park officially opens? It would be nice to get in early to beat the heat.

Oh god yes, thats the only time I start, im there at 630, its PERFECT as there is no vehicular traffic (ie crowds) before 9am. By 9am I've already gotten 6 miles of trail hiking in, including along gristmill. The only sounds you hear are birds and water. Im addicted! No way could I start after 9.

If you park under the bridge that carries the railroad over Ilchester Road and walk up to the railroad there is a long set of steps that leads directly to the top of the hill where the seminary was. You can see some remains of the concrete on top of the mountain in the south west corner of the intersection of Ilchester Road and the railroad if you look at Google Maps. The steps are overgrown but still there. The last time I was there I found the remains of two sanctuaries and some trails. I've heard that there is a graveyard somewhere on the top of the mountain but I haven't been able to find it.
