For a senior citizens and will be tenting it just for a weekend. Will it be safe for me? I haven’t gone camping since I was a teenager and I want to go again alone.

Yes you will do very well there

Yes it will be perfectly safe! As with all state parks there is a low risk of wildlife encounters but the odds are never 0% We have rangers that work the park until after close and there are resident rangers that live on the grounds. If you ever need anything, after hours numbers are provided and there is always a ranger on call. If you meet the requirements for senior discount the camping rate is half price. This is my favorite place to camp in Florida and I'll actually be going there a few times and staying by myself also. Feel very comfortable.
