Great hike!!! It’s a steep hike they have ropes you can hold on to so it’ll be easier to get to the bottom of the falls. Go early morning or later in the afternoon. Please be careful it is dangerous. The boulders or rocks can be slippery.

Easy parking and short, steep climb/walk down to the falls. There's an awesome platform to view it or you can climb down a bit more and really experience the mist of it. We loved it. My 3 year old son especially thought it was amazing

I hiked the long way in to Soco Falls during the Winter. It was a wonderful experience and I will definitely do it again. It was very snowy and the whole world seemed bright and peaceful. The waterfall is a twin waterfall of decent height. It is quite showy during recent rain and when snow melt is boosting its flow. Quite relaxing place and has easy roadside access for families and people unable to hike. Trails lead to the falls as well and the athletic can use ropes to climb down to the base of the falls.

Really nice falls, but busy! Also the path down is not easy at all. The path to the wooden deck isn't too bad ... but down to the bottom actually requires hanging onto ropes for support. Not much parking at all!! But still worth seeing if you're in the area.

No, it's just a long downward journey to a waterfall. It's cool. You can splash around but no swimming.
Not far at all, there are ropes to help.. It's steep
Yes it is just a road side stop with a few rough trails be sure to have a leash to guide them down and back up and good trail shoes as it is wet and slippery.
Named for the area around it Soco Gap. Soco roughly means ambush in Cherokee
There is a fantastic little barbecue restaurant about 6 miles away in Maggie Valley called "Butts on the Creek." They have a wide range of menu items that are reasonably priced, and a great screened in porch where you can eat right on the creek.
Yes, it is fed by multiple underground streams.
No, its just a place to pull off the road and walk down to the falls.
Where do I start. Don't waste your time in the casinos during the day there is so much to see. Clingmans Dome you can drive to and do half mile hike to the Dome watch sunsets sunrises. Soco Falls is roadside a must-see. An hour away is Route 64 going through Highlands. You can see Cullasaja Falls,Bridal Falls, Dry Falls, bust your butt Falls and do a very easy hike to Glen Falls. It's a beautiful drive and everything I mentioned there is about 35 minutes of each other. There are a handful of sites and a beautiful Grist Mill on route 74 between the casino and Oconaluftee visiting center. I went to the visiting center because every night around 4: 30 to 5 p. M. The elk start coming out to graze on the lawns. About 90 minutes away Blue Ridge Parkway short walk amazing view craggy garden, there a few other Hikes Benton Falls, mingo falls. I hope this was helpful.
Its not much of a hike, just steps going to it. Well worth it. Best time to go is after a rain. Enjoy
If you mean pets, it depends. It's quite a climb up those stairs. Larger dogs might be fine, but certainly not smaller pets. There's also a pretty steep drop just off the trail, so that's something to keep in mind.
