Simply gorgeous! This plance never gets old. The smells! The views! The roses are exceptional, and there is also city views from the park which are pretty spectacular on a clear day. There were a lot of people there when we went on a Saturday, but it was easy to stay distant for safety and picture-purposes. Parking was rough, so take the MAX if you are able.

All the roses are in full bloom now! Now is the best time to see this garden! This Free entrance rose garden is one of the best rose garden I ever seen. So many pretty roses! It surely is garden lover’s dream come true. Try to avoid the huge crowds go on weekdays or late afternoon on the weekends. Parking is a little hard to fine, but I can guarantee you that this place is worth your patience to drive around for a parking spot.

Absolutely love this place. It’s free to walk around, plenty to explore and all the unique varieties of roses are enchanting even if you’re not interested in botany. Parking is convenient, but cell service isn’t great in this area. Definitely recommend downloading the parking kitty app in advance to make it easier to pay for your parking. Absolutely worth the stop! The Japanese Gardens are just across the parking lot too if you want to make it into more of an excursion.

Beautiful scenery. If you love nature, fresh air and most of all plants you will most definitely enjoy this place. As most have already stated it is currently too early in the season for the roses, maybe mid to late June will be better. The rest of the park is beautiful. Definitely recommend the arboretum. Bring comfortable shoes!

No special parking, it would be difficult to park one there. Closest place to park it might be at the zoo.
There were a few..but in July and August they are in full bloom
It's really good place for family outing..especially for nature lovers..photographers etc
Was just there and it's perfect!
With these answers I'm assuming the view is not great during the end of February ?
Parking cost like 5 dollars
I was there on 11th Sep'18. It was blooming and most refreshing my mind. I just forgot everything and praising LORD for his wonderful creation. Well maintained and October may be OK if doesn't get too cold there!
Contact City Hall and Portland Parks and Recreation. I have heard of people doing this but if you contact the proper city departments, you can obtain the necessary information and permits if necessary.
It was great even in late September
No homeless camps in the area. You're safe to leave your belongings in the car
I was there last week and they are amazing still!!
A few still!
It's rather difficult to answer that question without the image. If you know the date you went there and something in the vicinity like "the archway" or "the second tier next to the amphitheater" then it may be possible to get a Rosarian to help since roses that stand out tend to be more familiar based on interest expressed in them.
There is no such place.
They all bloom at different times. It's a garden of a variety of roses
Yes, I was there last week and there were a few...there should be 1000's this week
What do they do with the end of season trimmings? This is Portland. They probably mulch it responsibly.
Rose tea, Rose lotion, Rose souvenirs -- this gift shop has everything you could imagine that is related to roses.
Please tell me the correct month..some people mentioned june ...some mentioned july to sep
Mid may
Some of the flowers are already in bloom, but if you are specifically referring to the roses, usually around mid to late May.
Unfortunately not... The best time to see the roses is July through October:)
There were some blossoms on varying bushes but for a more spectacular vista, best to visit in spring.
So there is grass everywhere. it's not very convenient but possible.
Rainbow raindrop colored umbrella
I am doubtful. You get in touch with Admin
No. You need to park and parking is not free.
Yes, still blooming into the first of October
Still blooming yes, but as ot gets colder in the season the blooms will be less. So come one down and see them roses.
Yes the rose garden is open year round. The later in the year you attend the rose garden there will be less rose blossoms. But the garden is open year round.
Unfortunately, the Garden does not list that rose on its website https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/finder/index.cfm?action=ViewFile&PolPdfsID=1831&/2016%20Rose%20Garden%20List.pdf
Yes
you have to pay for the Japanese garden. the rose one it's free and way better in my opinion. they are only separated by a 2 car road.
A picnic yes. Alcohol, I am not familiar with the laws in Portland Oregon
It doesn't. But from the Oregon zoo stop you can catch the free shuttle and it will take you to the gardens.
I can't remember but they have name plates near them that tell you the name of them. I'm from Portland but live in Montana now and I was just there but not sure what they are called. I have pics of about 300 or so rose bushes so I'd have to check and see
Yes but must be on leash at all times and leave no trace of dogs on the flowers or beds
Yes. They do have senior discount.
Give it about another week and it should be in full bloom by then. You will not regret going.
The rose garden entrance is free, but the Japanese garden, which is close by costs $15 for entrance.
Should be blooming now. I was there a few weeks ago and there were some buds, but it was still a bit cold.
There will be blooms, there's pretty much always blooms.
I think about 1 hour is enough, but it depends on your level of interest. For a typical person, 1 hour in a rose garden will be plenty.
No roses or other warm season plants, but the view is still there; there are still hedges and trees and you can head up to the Japanese garden.
City hall should be able to help you with that. If you're looking to have a ceremony there you'll have to talk to management directly.
I don't believe so. But I don't think a permit is difficult or expensive to get...
