Haven't been to this park in many years and after my recent visit I've no desire to go back. Hoping to have a nice nature walk and get a few photos and maybe have a swim in the spring all ended in disaster. First stop, the swimming area, overrun with people, murky dirty looking water, definitely not as I remembered on previous visits. We decided to head on into the woods for a walk, first stopping by the restrooms. I changed mind quickly after seeing the condition of the restroom. My first impression was it looked as if cattle had been housed there. We decided to make the best of a bad situation therefore continued on to our nature walk, only to be disappointed once again. We tried two different walking trails only to find each blocked off with caution tape. Determined not to give up we took one more detour. This time we met a couple walking toward us warning us to watch out for the trail ahead saying there was sewage running across the trail. Once again we had to turn back.We felt we had explored all options and decided to leave. As we drove away we realized we had just paid $22 to experience how neglected one of Florida 's, once beautiful, parks had become.

Small campsites nice little weekend getaway

Campsite 64. Disappointed. The pictures on the reservation website do not represent how small this site actually is. No buffer at all between 64 and the next site. In fact nothing separating the next 3 or 4 sites. Plan was to stay one night and be joined by my daughter with her tent the next 2 nights. No way this site was going to accommodate 2 tents. Stayed the one night and left. Not worth her driving 2.5 hours. I will say the other campers were very courteous. The campground was quiet after 10pm, even with all the children around and the restroom was clean and well maintained.

Nothing to do. Such a waste of time

In the spring swimming area there is 2 parts that are 19 and 20 ft deep, average is 8 except the shelf around the edge is like 3-4 ft
Some campsites have bear boxes. If you need one, i would call them and ask which sites have them. I believe the campsites in Fern have them, but i am not 100% sure. You can also always leave food items in a vehicle that is locked with closed windows.
I don't think they have a laundry area. As many facilities as they do have, it is still camping. I do remember someone washing their clothes in the shower and then air drying them, however.
$6 for day use but if you have a disability pass for national parks, they will give you half price
Yes, but only at the campsite and can't be left unattended.
While we have a campground, we are also open to daily visitors at the swimming area. Daily entry fees in 2022 are $8/person on weekdays and $11/person on weekends and holidays (under 5 free).
Was there this past weekend with a 4x8 travel trailer on a tent site (63) with no issue. Whoever is responsible for keeping the facilities clean deserves a raise.
Its pouring rain with thunder and lightening, and we have TMobile with 1 to 3 bars. The grandkids said the service was better near the bath house.
Primitive camping. No hook ups, no wifi, no electric. There is a building in every loop which has dishwashing station, bathroom, changing rooms, and showers available for campers to use. There is also a bathroom, changing rooms and showers by the spring.
How much is it to camp for one night
Yes. Great camping and great experience

Check the website for more info
The run is 7 miles long and takes about 4-5 hours. They stop letting people go close to noon.
For camping, we no longer accept walk-ups. All reservations are through Recreation.gov For coming to swim for the day, you simply arrive - no reservations are available for daytime only visits.
Well its 31 dollars a night. We have the America the beautiful pass so we get 50 percent off
All camping is by reservation only through Recreation.gov
I don't think so, because there was a girl drying her hair with the handdryer. I'm guessing that she couldn't find a plug for a hair dryer. 🤷♀️
We just set up our camp. We have an 8 person tent plus a 10×10 canopy with room to spare. It seems to be a great camp area so far, even if it is raining.
No boats but you can rent a kayak and take the 4 mile run down the river.
Juniper Springs Campground is primitive camping only. Each site has a grill, fire ring, picnic table, light pole, and bear-proof storage container. There are no cabins on-site.
There are no cabin rentals at Juniper Springs, but if you continue on SR40 there is a place with cabin rentals. It's approximately 5 to 7 miles from Juniper Springs on the right.
I did not see one at all. Not many people there and wide open parking right at the walk way
Not at the springs or on the paths going to and from the spring but on a leash they are allowed in the camping areas and on the Florida Trail that passes through the park.
Yes. Quiet time starts at 10pm.
Not sure as we reserved a spot online. We could not check in until 2pm though.
Not really. There are raised boardwalk paths and you're supposed to stay on them. That being said, there were lots of younger people off-trail wading in the streams where it's clearly posted be off-limits. Not only is it destructive to the environment, but could be dangerous (alligators, snapping turtles, etc.).
You might be hard pressed to find a camp site where the trees are positioned well enough for a hammock
74! Best private site there :)
Yes, you have to pay a fee. Tents are allowed, and they do have showers and toilets, as well as swimming
Can go for the day. Fee I believe is $5.If you have Golden Eagle Card it is $3.00.
You can walk.
Fees for camping are $22 per campsite per night. Learn more here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/ocala/recarea/?recid=37187
No.
Per person on entry. Let them know you are camping because they don't give credit for entry.
Yeah I checked out the website for trails in the forest and they have quite a few area's where you can bring them one is at the Fl Greenway where they built the lock back in the 1960 but the government pulled funding before they finished it was supposed to go from the west coast of Fl to the East coast I have been on the W coast side but not the E coast side
Yes. At the store by the springs or at the gate house. Its $6.89 per pack
Yes. Remember there are bears, panthers, coyotes in the area. Leaving your buddy with a friend maybe a good idea
Check their website for price depending if you want hookup. Its a campsite, so yes its open during the weekend
Absolutely yes! some sites are bigger than others. If you go down to site 73 and fern hammock loop, it will seem like you have two or three campsites yourself
The camping and concessions are run by a private 3rd party. They might escape the rediculousness...
No electric...can only stay 14days at time.
Yes you can! Plenty of ATV trails throughout the Ocala national Forest. You're not allowed to operate ATVs or side by sides with in the park. No chainsaws or anything like that.
Yes, they are.
There are no electric sites. Only primitive camping. You may have a generator or a RV but generators must be shut off at 10pm-7am which is quiet time.
There are gators, you can see through the water in most places. Its a small river and a lot of work to get down it. You go over and under trees and lots of bends. Its not a leisurely paddle. The rapids are brief and not bad at all.
They are all good, we went with 7 kids on one site and 5 in another and honestly the park is huge, lots of space they will love it
At this time, it is $12.72 per person for Peter's first option. And for the second option that was stated above is 12.72 per person and 12.72 per kayak or canoe.
Tons of people bring tubes and float in the Spring area. They even sell tubes in the gift shop.
From my understanding, we used to enforce that, however, times have changed. We no longer so
Yes
They do not recognize state park or national They are privately own we were told.
I ran a honda super quiet generator all night My Ac is louder than generator is.
Yes, toilets, showers & sinks. Also a separate nice sink area with counter space for dishwashing. Hot water too! Swimming is natural spring is awesome.
Not sure about the guide I do believe that pets are allowed
Not in the State park. I believe you have to have a site. But I believe they have group camping. But out side of the State Park is the National Forest. You can camp there for free. Just off Florida trail.
