Is this area good for hiking?

Not really. There are raised boardwalk paths and you're supposed to stay on them. That being said, there were lots of younger people off-trail wading in the streams where it's clearly posted be off-limits. Not only is it destructive to the environment, but could be dangerous (alligators, snapping turtles, etc.).
