This is a peak I will only do in winter conditions. We had the whole mountain to ourselves. The last 500 feet you really need to kick hard; 75% of the trip, we were on snow shoes. In fact, no way to summit without snow shoes. Lower elevations snow was a little slushy, over all good conditions (yesterday May 4th, 2019). Never excited about the long way in, but for the view from the summit, it's worth it every time. p.s.: what you wanna do this special extra day in February, 2020? well, we decided to try N Twin Cone Peak, to check out the snow condition and snowshoe in as much as we can, and we did just that! not a summit day, but a great day! perfect condition to snowshoe right off the parking lot, till about 3 miles in, snow is becoming sticky and knee high, makes breaking the trail difficult.

Beautiful drive. Do not attempt without high-clearance 4x4.
