Very pretty park and town. We were here when the weather was forecast for thunderstorms and rain but had beautiful days where we could hike and look at the river and waterfalls, with only a few showers after 3pm. Not too many people but I could see it being busy in season. Was not bad for camping in a trailer... the spaces are smaller than average but still ok for 25 ft trailer, would suggest bringing additional blocks as they are not all level pads. We will be back!

One of the best and biggest state parks I've ever been too. It is huge so you will need a map. There are 5 waterfalls you can view with the main waterfall being right next to the visitor's center. The trails are very well maintained and open. There are some gift shops and a bakery in town.

I absolutely love this place! Went about 11 times last summer and it literally feels like a vacation every minute I’m there. You must be careful though has there can be some very slippery area! May sure you check out the natural water falls. When you go down the stairs hang a left and just walk until you reach the main river, it’s beautiful and peaceful as not everyone knows about it.

Simply Wow. I spent 2 whole days hiking the same trail and exploring around the falls. I encourage you to stop and take a look at the signs they have up about fossils and all the plants that grow there. I spent maybe 4 hours just looking for 3 kinds of fossils around the trails. Because it was December when I went, there was no white water rafting or swimming or many plants to see or places to eat open or kayaking (although a handful of people were doing it with their personal crafts) but it was still an incredible time. I can't imagine what this place would be like in the other seasons when things are booming. The town was quite cute and had many local pizza places and hand dipped ice cream as well as restaurants. There is just so much to do here I highly recommend it.

For sure. The Middle Yough is pretty tame for a family float, and the Lower Yough has some Class 3/4 rapids. You would want to join a guided trip if you're not experienced. There are a few places that do guides tours, although they mostly cater to rafters. The Upper Yough is for experts only. The while area is very conducive to paddling and is BEAUTIFUL.
Yes at the Kentuck Campground
There's definitely plenty to see out there not all of it is going to be handicap accessible. Its worth checking out.
You can swim in the river .not sure about a campground .didn't camp out just visit
Yes Rt. 381 runs straight through the park.
Go to Coudersport, Pa. Lot of paths up that way.
I've had ATT and lost service TO the park. But no so much within.
Yes, there are quite a few spots on the rivers edge with flat land anyone flat rocks to put you safely near the water. Although there's a ton of snow there usually in the winter months so be cautious of slippery walking and/or driving conditions! Well worth the trip there, even for just the beautiful scenery!
Yes, what the other guides said. There are a few places that have a view of the falls that are easily accessible and don't require much walking or effort but if you want to be up close and personal with them you have 2 options. First one is to take the trail around to the falls which isn't difficult unless you have an impairment that disables you from walking any amount of distance such as COPD or a disability that impairs your mobility. The other option (and i definitely wouldn't recommend it) would be to just throw yourself in the river a bit upstream and float your way down to them, although it may be a bumpy ride that would most likely be your last, but hey, how much do you want to be that intimate with the falls? Lol. (Disclaimer: that second option is a joke. I assume no responsibility, legal or otherwise if you take that route. It's your life, do with it what you will.)
$135-$150 a night
I'm thinking to take my metal detector in the water there
It would depend on what exactly you're planning. How many people? Reception at cabin or elsewhere. You definitely need to contact where you want to rent and ask for their specific guidelines for their rental property.
No. It is free. They have wonderful restaurants and the river is beautiful. There are walking trails. It is actually like a town.
The falls in ohiopyle
There are cottages to rent but I do not believe there are any pavilions.
Absolutely
Yes, very nice area!!!
On the Gap trail or the Laurel Highlands Trail, yes you can...
No there is no shuttle service to Fallingwater, it is about 3 to 4 miles on route 381 north... and there is a fee to tour Fallingwater as well..
Very rocky and muddy watch out for snakes
If you can park close enough it's not far from the big falls, and there's sidewalks and observation decks to go on. There are smaller falls on up the road that we didn't stop at because of traffic and walking.
No, not right in ohiopile, maybe further up or downstream.
I am sure all of them do a great job. That being said, we chose Whitewater Adventures and had a blast. Very good safety fallback with guides and kayakers on the spot. We lost half our raft including the guide and, more importantly, my 15 year old daughter in one of the rapids. Response was rapid from the kayaking crew to ferry my daughter to the nearest raft and then she was returned to our raft within minutes. It was a great time.
Campground reservation or a room? And doesn't your reservation slip/receipt have any information about the important things you have to know about checking in, etc.? A phone number for the place? Sorry if it wasn't helpful at all, but I was looking for answers and saw your post and thought it might be useful if you knew where to look for the answers you seek.
Yes, in ohiopyle at the GAP bridge there is a swim area. It is a nice little beach for the family.
There is a information station. They have guided river rafting. You can also rent bicycles. I would imagine they have maps for biking trails. They I believed also have self guided trails. As for a personal guide I'm not sure. We have always just used the maps provided. They have everything nicely marked. I hope this somewhat answers your question.
Im not sure what the rules are but I've swam below cucumber falls, above them and in the lower creek - the flumes are fun, and lotscof places in the river.
I would contact the rangers or concierge at the visitors center at the falls. I imagine they have the proper info!
Yes the park has a campground in the heart of the park...its called ohiopyle kentuck knob state park campgrounds...hook ups for tv's to hike to site many trails run behind the campground through the park which the campground is in!!!
Not sure if there is free camping around the immediate Ohiopyle area. Only know of the state park campground that does charge a fee.
Meadow Run Trail should be open. I have visited the park in early spring, summer, and late fall. I've never seen this trail closed. However, be aware of the potential for challenging trail conditions from winter. Just use your best judgement. It was really nice just last week. Have fun!
No. Though it's not really a park with a defined area to drive through. Most of the access is from the main road with signs for different points of interest. The main park area is on the river with a swimming spot for the summer (if the river is cooperating). At the main park area there is a town with restuarants, shops, and activities. There are a number of off the road trails that are drivable.
Nope
They will start changing in a week or so, they may not be exceptional due to high volume of rain
No
Right now(June 2019) its $25/night for a walk in tent site.
Yes. Have a leash available and pick up after them.
Yes but it might be limited to certain sites.
Its not about the height, but the speed. It can quickly pick up and bash you against the rocks, a good rule of thumb is not to go after it rained recently.
You can see a lot of waterfalls. None i would advise jumping from. Check out the natural waterslides.
There is several places in the town of Ohiopyle
No, they aren't too close. Some are further apart then others. Depends if you have a tent site or a cabin rental or what.
Yes. But need to clean up after them. Great place for dogs
The town is actually located in the state park. All camping trails lead to the town. It's tiny kind of like a food court In the middle off a state park. A 5-20 minute walk from any camp sites. They have bike rental, stores, an ice cream shop, and restaurant/bars.
Yes there is lots of fish but when it's warm it's hard to fish because it's such a popular place to swim also the natural water slide is delayed harvest artificial lures and flies only
There are miles and miles of trail and landscapes for backpacking and cycling. As for the camping, i believe the trails are closed after dark but there are paid designated camping sites. I would Call in advance just to be sure, but it is a beautiful place and you will have a fantastic time!
I yurt is a small cabin usually made by a big tube. 1 to 3 rooms. Depending where you stay some have electricity, some have water, some have both or neither. Your best bet is to go on the campground's website and look up the unit you are staying in
