I don’t even know how to explain how bad our experience has been trying to obtain a student visa for my son. You can’t call them. They don’t reply to email. It’s been months in this process and the latest issue is, we finally got word that visa was approved so we could come pick it up or send a self-addressed, pre-paid envelope (why did they not tell us this when they asked us to mail his passport?!). Well, they received the priority mail envelope LAST Monday (8/15) and STILL haven’t bothered to mail it back! We leave in 15 days! All they need to do is literally drop his passport into the envelope and mail it. That’s it! When my son extends his stay in Spain I will be doing it Spain, not here ever again.

If you need a visa to go to Spain for business or leisure, do not even bother to apply. If your business trip is not finalized before the supposedly 6 months in advance (earliest you can apply for Schengen Visa), at this moment there is zero chance you will be able to get a visa from this consulate. So, plan ahead, like really really ahead of time, otherwise just go somewhere else or don't go. This one star review is to draw attention to the situation of the San Francisco Spanish Consulate and let applicants know about the situation. I am sure if you ever get an appointment, the experience will be better.

We had our visa appointment today and the consulate officer was kind and hospitable. There is only one person doing what 3-4 people should, so there are considerable delays in getting an appointment at the consulate. If you follow the guideline and have enough time, you will have an awesome experience. Couple of tips for anyone planning to get appointment from SF's Spain consulate: - have right expectations: when booking flights or hotels, quota enough time for secure a visa before your travel - be prepared: have your documents ready to share with the appointment mail, to avoid any delays with getting an appointment date/time - be humane to the situation: the visa officer is managing multiple tasks - responding to emails, scheduling appointments, taking in-person visits and back-end visa processing - every day.

I had great experience getting my Spanish visa. The people at the Consulte are very professional, friendly and kind. I asked for quick processing of my application because of upcoming travel plans and got my visa in 1 week. Thank you for a wonderful preview of Spanish hospitality! I am now even more excited about my trip!

The same thing in the state of Oregon
They won't answer the phone Period. The French Embassy has you speaking to a live person within 4 minutes! What is up with this Embassy. I've been trying for months to talk to a live person!
I am in the same boat. Luoshu, can you pls share if you were able to solve your issue? It will be helpful for those of us who are in a similar situation to learn from your experience.
The Spanish are great tailors, and COSTUMERS. However, you don not seem to be a friendly CUSTOMER ;-))
I would also like to hear the answer to your question.
No it just says the the information is on the website and it's not this is a specific case
Thank you very much for your question. On our website, in the channel 'The Consulate informs' you can obtain information on' Spanish nationality for Sephardim.
Check there website. They have a PDF including all the documents you need
I kept emailing them and they eventually told me to mail in my application
Same happened to me. No response. So I went in person to see if they can do anything. They told me they are not giving appointments for tourist Visa for next 2-3 months at least. And recommended me to get a Visa from different Schengen country.
Hello Salvador, I recently renewed my passport in the US and they gave me this address to have information on visit requirements, Google: travelsafe.spain.info
Hey, can someone please guide me on how to make an appointment? The email responses are auto generated and I cant find any info on how to book an appointment on their website
No need quarantine as longer you a vaccine card, you will need a covid test 24hrs before you back to the USA.
Spain's borders will reopen to vaccinated travelers, including Americans, from outside the European Union on June 7.
As of 4/28 due to COVID-19 Spanish travel restrictions, US citizens cannot enter Spain unless they meet very specific requirements or have already obtained special permission from the Government of Spain. Check daily http://es.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/
You have up to 3 years to be able to request the preservation of nationality, search the consulate website for the necessary documentation and request an appointment for the preservation of nationality.
I am also planning to travel to Spain in August to visit my family. I booked everything, flight, hotels etc... That is possible to cancel and get full refund if the conditions is Spain are not good for traveling. Unfortunately nobody knows how things are going to look in a few months. People are getting vaccinated slowly in Spain but I heard vaccinations are going to speed up in April. It is a game of wait and see. Good luck.
We contacted the Consulate in San Francisco thru email and they helped us clarify our questions (rela people). It took a bit longer than expected but they finally replied. No way to contact them by phone...
Not if you are flying to Spain from the USA
Hello Elvira, I was just two weeks ago there. They told me that everything was done from the web page, they did not even give me any information because according to they said that everything is from the web page because of the pandemic
Good morning, first of all you should visit the embassy page online, check what your requirements are according to your case and request an appointment so that they can attend you at the embassy. Without an appointment they will not attend you, do not miss the trip if you do not have an appointment.
The consulate is open, or at least I was there two weeks ago or maybe a little longer. What you have is to make an appointment through the embassy, they do not attend without an appointment, I know why I have renewed my passport and my girlfriend did procedures regarding powers of attorney.
You have been lucky with this procedure. I also need to confirm the Spanish nationality of my daughter.
Vittorio, what are the magic words I can write in the email where a human being will understand my problem and actually answer? I keep getting auto response which is not helpful and no human replies. It shouldn't be so hard to be a tourist in Spain. Nor Cal is one of the wealthiest places in the world. Why does Spain make it so hard for non-US citizens of Nor Cal to spend big money in Spain?
It's $67 cash and exact amount
What do you mean by au pair?
Not am immigration lawyer but if you can get tourist visa you probably can..
Check their website or visit them to ask. They're very helpful but are not open all day.
Usually about 7 to 10 days depending on how complete your documents are when submitted.
I don't know if they do. There's probably a notary nearby their embassy...
Hello, I strongly suggest an appointment. You need to contact them by email. They have a sign there that says you need an appt due to high volume of applications. I was there for something else but remember seeing the sign. If u live in SF then you can go in person to make an appointment.
Return to Spanish Consulate. They might try to contact that person or the person may end up going there for new passport anyway.
I believe it's about 5 to 15 business days depending on how complete your documents are upon submission during your appointment. Check their website and try to make an appointment online. Also check Schengen visa rules. Hope this helps you.
Call, email, or visit and ask them directly for the best answer or direction. Hope that helps you.
Just keep refreshing the page, something will open up. I had to do that for hours before I could book an appointment, coz yeah they never answer the phone.
Call the consulate
I think you don't need to apostille it, but it must be legalized in Cuba by MINREX
I am not sure. I would say it depends on the length or purpose of stay. The Spanish consulate is always packed even before the doors open there is a line. Check the web page. It has a lot of information.
I'm trying to see where appointments are made with the consulate, but I can't find that Bookitit program. It is incredible how difficult they do or answer the phone or get help in any way from the consulate.
If in town they some times return the passport in the next day or two, you should mention the same during your interview. The max time for it to be ready though is I think a week from interview.
I am guessing it says 'resuelto'. It usually means your visa is approved and ready to pickup. That's the only message you get from the online system.
http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consulados/SANFRANCISCO/es/ServiciosConsulares/ServiciosenSanFrancisco/Paginas/Visados.aspx scroll down the page until you see a link to bookitit
I received the votes on Friday and sent them Saturday. Try to send it as urgent mail, but in the envelope they will stamp it with the date.
I believe they don't take walk-ins. When I entered, they first check if I'm on the reservation list.
I was able to pick up my passport 3 days after my visa interview.
Email them and ask for an emergency appointment or check early every morning; they are usually some cancellations.
We thank you for your question. Yes, Spanish citizens living abroad need to have their passports renewed, regardless of their age. For the procedure, please visit our web site www.exteriores.gob.es/Consulados/Sanfrancisco (Servicios Consulares - Trámites en San Francisco - Pasaporte).
Apply asap. The appointment dates fill up quickly.
What more do you "need to do" for what? What you need to do depends on what you're trying to get done. Could you be more specific? Also you can try to call the number on the website, or the one listed for Google. Good luck though, they won't answer and you're better off going into the office to talk to them. From my experience they won't be happy that you take that route, but it's the only way if you have questions that you can't find the answer to.
Best advice is to go in person Monday thru Friday from 10am-11:30am best time to go there. In order to get a Spanish passport you need to become a citizen of Spain first. This will be a process and is not instant.
Thank you very much but you do not eat the aputamiento.por favar aiudame with the steps
Thanks for your question. On our website we provide the information you need, in the channel 'Consular Services - Consular Services in San Francisco - Registration Registration'.
Thank you for your question. In our web site, in the English version, you can find it in 'Information for Foreigners'
You do not need an appointment, I recommend you arrive early (8:45 am) so that they will attend you first. The passport takes about 3 weeks to be delivered.
Same here. Did you get your problen solved?
Thanks for the reply. I have been monitoring the Bookit website and have not seen any cancellations, it seems to only show future appointments in October. I have an appointment for the end of September but need a much earlier date, how can I go about taking a cancelled appointment slot?
I have a similar problem, were you able to do this in the end?
Thanks for your question. A safe conduct only enables you to travel directly to Spain, without stopovers in another country.
Thank you for your question. Cancellations are frequent. Please retry.
What do you need! A visa to visit Spain?
We are sorry, you have to apply at the consular office of your residence.
You don't need an IDP, you should be good in the EU with an American driver's license. And for sure that you can drive in Spain with your CA license.
No you have to have an appointment. There are no same day appointments
No
On the website of the Consulate General, information on the Spanish nationality law for Sephardic Jews can be found on the "El Consulado informa" channel.
Please consult the Consulate General web site. They have an English page.
Visas have to be picked up in person at the Consulate General.
I recommend that you call the Los Angeles consulate to ask, since they never pick up the phone. Luck
No appointments, first come, first served. No pictures there neither photocopies, bring everything ready.
Dni at the consulate I think no passport renewal if you call the consulate of Los Angeles, these San Francisco never take the call
You do not have to make an appointment. I advise you to renew it almost before it expires,
Go to the Spanish consular page on Google.
Yes, there has been demostrations. Yet, civilized ones.
You may want to consider Google it!
