If I could give 10 Stars I would! While on vacation, we happened upon Fort Adams. It was the Tuesday before Memorial Day. We thought, "Let's just check this place out. We have nothing to do." I am ashamed now that I thought that. Every staff member was friendly, personable and helpful. The audio tour, although not fancy schmancy and professionally done, was clear and informative. The fort itself was amazing, but little did we know we would see them preparing for a Boots On The Ground ceremony. Watching the volunteers set up the boys and flags brought tears to my eyes. Thank you to all who have served our country, and thank you to those who were preparing to celebrate and remember them.

Scenic views inside and outside on the beach. Great to know the history of the fort from the world war times. Hoped to see more details of the life during the war time in this place. The self guided tour with smartphone app was super convenient. Can be covered with quick walk around the fort grounds inside and the scenic beach view from the top of the fort.

This is a good park to go to while visiting Newport Rhode Island. There are plenty of parking lots throughout the park to walk on the scenic harbor and take in the view. In summer must have fresh lemonade also available restrooms

Fort Adams blew my mind! GO HERE NOW! Take the guided tour and if you are as lucky as we were, you'll get Mike! Aside from the jaw dropping everything that is the Fort, our tour guide knew so much history! So much details! The humanity, the why, the where, when, who, what, how! List goes on. Thank you Mike, you truly made my first visit something amazing! I did not know this place existed up until a few day's prior to visiting R.I. Now, don't get me wrong, there are forts all up and down the East coast in this area but you will not find anyone comparable to Fort Adams. The Fort Adams Trust is doing amazing things to preserve this extremely iconic, necessary piece of America's history! I urge you, go see this Fort! Let it blow your mind too and help preserve it! I will go back and I want to be able to do it again! It was built for us now let's keep'er alive!

There are plenty of benches facing towards the beach and amazing views
Absolutely yes, but please be more careful with any young kids because Fort Adam is by the water. Enjoy
The huge free parking lot there is an enormous parking lot in Fort Adams state park. I know because I live here. I'm at Fort Adams over half of every summer. The parking lot is Free yes you can fish. But please clean up your mess
Thanks. I'm just want to know for my mom
I see people fishing all night at Fort Adams. I have a boat in the Cove
Don't be mad I couldn't make it either 😂
No way
No! Technically, there is a VERY small beach where you could use one below the mean high water line or in the water itself. But other than that, it's off limits.
It does not have camping but is a great spot to visit. Amazing views of the bridge and harbor area. Watch the yachts sail in and out. And it has an actual fort there that you can tour.
Should you decide to take a tour make sure to ask for Mike as your tour guide he is extremely knowledgeable of the forts complete history.. Even fires the cannon for the forts events..He did so for my daughters wedding there..
No sir 100 pct free to park and be on thr grounds. There is a fee to tour the fort itself but the acreage.. Water front... Eisenhower house.. Docks... All free to meander and there is a TON of space for social distancing. More space than parking to even get enough people in there to be less than 6 ft apart... Also bathrooms but the auxiliary bathroom in the first parking lot remains closed. Main restrooms still open. No porto potties on Eisenhower house side. Also both sides of the road on Eisenhower house side are full shade parking enough for maybe 40 vehicles.
Yes, you to pay to inside. To enjoy the park itself and the views that is free.
Ok got it. Thank you guys for helping me out.
Yes. They have grills and I believe you can bring your own and cook near the picnic tables. They have a playground, and reastrooms not far from the beach or the picnic tables. There's also a Second part. Near the statue of Rochambeau*. You can cook on the grass no picnic tables in the 2nd part. Also a small beach. Little further from the restrooms. I grew up on Wellington Avenue. Hope I could help! Enjoy!
You can visit for free but there are some guided tours that have fees
For the 50th anniversary for the Pell Bridge. The 4th of July fireworks on the 2nd
The Park is open and free year round. however, there is a cost for touring the fort inside,. but doesn't actually look much different than the outside
