The huge free parking lot there is an enormous parking lot in Fort Adams state park. I know because I live here. I'm at Fort Adams over half of every summer. The parking lot is Free yes you can fish. But please clean up your mess
There are free public parking lots near the fort. If you're just visiting Newport you'll probably have to do parallel parking or pay for a lot spot. Depending on the time you may be able to park at a beach parking lot for free.
