Depends what you are going for. Driving tests need an appointment. All other, it's best to have an appointment, otherwise you wait in line

Roughly 7-10 days in the mail, though they print a "temp ID/license" to hand you immediately. The temp has no photo or anything but it shows that you have ordered one if law enforcement or similar request your ID. There is also an option to have it expedited if you call Albany (the DMV rep can/will provide the #) AFTER having ordered a replacement online or at the office...sorry for the novel I have written in response!!

If you need to fill out docs, you will need an appointment in less that changed. If you go there right when they open up, you may be able to get what you need and ask all the questions you want. When I got there, I had to wait in line and people with an appointment went straight to the front. But if you have docs filled out you have to wait and hand it to them. They will check to make sure you have everything, and you will get a call, text or email when it's processed and ready for pick up if it requires pick-up. I got there a little after 6:30am to give you an idea for walk ins and they may have a cutoff after a certain time. So get there early if you want to try to walk in, otherwise you may be turned away because they will focus on the volume of appointments coming in which is understandable. I would make an appointment anyway, then you won't have to really wait.

The Taft Road office has a drop box in the entry way. They were open a couple of weeks ago and only used the drop box for plate surrender, but that might have changed.

They are not doing enhanced licenses yet so Im thinking they arent doing real ID either. You can renew your regular license online or go to DMV and they will give you form to fill out and you can get you eye test done at a drug store like Kinney's or your eye doctors and have them fax over results of eye exam to dmv and fill out form and enclose a check and mail. But Monday thru Thursday they have three people standing outside DMV answering questions and giving you the proper forms you need. Hope this helpss!

Go there, the security outside will give you all the forms to fill out. Then stick it in the drop box. They are required to mail you everything now so making an appointment won't make it go faster.

Enhanced ID and Enhanced license are two separate identifications one can have, if you're looking for just an enhanced non-driving ID it would be about $40, if you have a license and you wish to get that enhanced, that would cost between $42.50 and $94.50 dependent on weather you are renewing your license and upgrading to enhanced, or just changing your license to enhanced. BOTH transactions MUST be completed in person, by RESERVATION ONLY, when the office opens back up for in person transactions. Please visit dmv.ny.gov for updates, and please use the tools on the websites to make sure you gather all the appropriate documentation necessary to complete your upgrade.

you're most likely getting an error because the website has a lot of extra traffic on it during 8am-8pm range, try later in the evening or earlier in the morning. North Syracuse does have a drop box if absolutely necessary, and does not have a public number for you to call.

They do a kiosk now at the DMV as well for normal day stuff like this. When my wife renewed her license she didn't have to wait in line or anything. Used the kiosk and was out in 10 minutes.
