Fantastic mountain biking trail (also for hiking and equestrians). The Ridge Trail gives you views of both sides of the ridge - Pacific Ocean and Silicon Valley. Search on AllTrails for Ridge Monte Bello, Skyline Ridge, or Ridge Trail for choices. Lots of intersecting trails here, so you need a map (or an app)! Phone service not good in several locations so if you use an app you will need to download the map to the phone. There are trail markings, but not a lot of detail if you don't know where you are going. Good map and info at the trailhead (see photo).

Overall a nice relaxed area to enjoy outdoors. It’s only 20 minutes from Saratoga Springs city, and about 40 or 50 minutes from San Jose, California. It’s one of the preserves in the area that doesn’t allow mountain biking on most of the trails and electric bikes or electric mountain bikes are not allowed in the preserve areas ever. It’s along the mountain range west of San Jose, California. I took a nice evening stroll and watched the sunset. The trails are very well groomed, there are several areas around this lake where there are benches to sit and enjoy the quiet. Dogs are allowed on leash. They were very few people while I was there, which was a very late evening on a weeknight. The reason I give four stars is because the Rangers in the area seem to hover, make people nervous, and are eager to intrude on your enjoyment. There is plenty of parking, area for equestrian users to park, although I don’t believe they can use the trails around this lake, and there is handicap parking with adjacent accessible trails. I don’t believe that these preserves have full handicap accessibility. For example, The website and the preserve regulations for this area, not just this late, would make a person think that electric mobility devices are also prohibited. This does not comply with ADA regulations.

Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve is a lovely preserve with the beautiful Horseshoe Lake within. There is ample parking and the Horseshoe Trail is very pretty and beautiful. We were able to see lots of birds and flowers while walking around on the Horseshoe Lake Trail. We also went over the Tree Ridge Trail, which has a bit of an incline while going up and is pretty narrow while coming down. Will definitely visit again to hike in other trails in the preserve. A good preserve to visit with the family.
