Love this place. I do have a problem with ticks here sometimes.... So check yourself and your dog before hopping back into your vehicle. There have been times when you can brush against a palm and you have a tick fall onto your arm. That infested. Other than that... I've never had an issue with one attaching. You can usually feel them before they do. There's nothing spectacular here, just a walk in the nature and it's quiet as long as the racetrack isn't running. It does get very flooded in some areas, so be prepared if you decide to go for the first time and it's been raining for a few days. I'm grateful for this preserve overall.

Beautiful, serene nature. Especially early in the morning and just before sunset. Some alligators, snakes, turtles and birds to see. Nice river for kayak and canoe.

Nice place for a hike and it looks like a great place to launch a Kayak. I walked all the trails and logged just under 3 miles.

Yes, but because of the open nature; you really have to watch them. Remember, there are snakes, live allegators, spiders and all the wild bush (think poison Ivy!) Anyone could stand. It's great to get out doors but please, watch the little ones. Many trails to walk down, don't get lost.
Fresh water, no designated area. That said, in my 31 years, I've never seen a gator or snake where people are actively swimming.
Rates change everyday, call and ask.
Lots of bluegill, bass, and cat fish along with some other not so common fish. There are no "fishing docks" but anywhere there's a bank, there's fish so grab some worms and come out for a good time! A couple weekends ago we saw some manatees swim right in front of where we were fishing!
You just go through the gate pick your site and a ranger will come around and get your money from you. There are plenty of sites you should have no problem. No electricity
Yes by across from the playground they have a short path to take to the kayak launch. There are steps to take down so its a bit of a trek. Enjoy!
