I have lived here for over two years. The building and amenities are great. The office staff and security are non-existent. Lots of theft inside and outside the building because the gates on the parking deck are rarely in working order. Expect cars on blocks and catalytic converter theft in the parking deck of this $2k a month building.

Management uninvolved and extremely hard to get a hold of. (Definitely screen their calls) Everything is constantly broken and not kept to minimal standards as far as amenities and basic entryways/elevators. Also, there is a homeless camp in the woods behind the south building. They are always burning things back there and coming on the Sur512 property, so car and package theft happens everyday.

SUMMARY: SUR 512 IS A LUXURY, GATED COMMUNITY WITH BROKEN GATED DOORS AND A LACK OF SECURITY SYSTEMS THAT ANY LUXURY APARTMENT SHOULD HAVE. AS A RESULT, PACKAGES AND CARS GOT TAKEN, BROKEN, AND STOLEN RIGHT ON THE PREMISE. Here is a REAL honest review as of December 2021 and it is true at the time of writing. There have been months of complaints from tenants regarding stolen packages, suspicious trespassers, and suspicious activities on the premises. Some tenants have captured all these suspicious activities on their own doorbell camera devices. But management fails to take immediate and sufficient preventive measures and denies responsibility. SUR 512 apartment is a "GATED Community." Its site claims that it is a LUXURY apartment, but it lacks the safety and security (and responsibility) that tenants could have received from other non-luxury apartments. sir Their gated doors are broken; you can just open them! Their gated garage is dark, dim, and non-monitored, with no security cameras to capture any suspicious and illegal activities. You are probably safer to park your car outside on the street than inside its gated garage. Besides the garage itself needing some more monitoring, security cameras are now cheap, wireless/cordless, and easy to install. This leaves tenants wondering why they do not install more cameras around the premises, knowing of stolen packages and other suspicious activities. This week alone, 3-4 cars parking in its gated garage had their windows broken, and another car was stolen. Yet, management has not shown that they are working with the police, warning, informing other tenants, or reaching out to those impacted to help investigate or offer sympathy. Instead, they just go on like nothing is happening. Tenants tried to warn each other by posting notes on other tenants' doors, but the management came to remove them. One would think that when some illegal activities happen on the premises, property management would be quick to respond to fix it, and it would be their duty and responsibility to provide a safe and secure place to the paid tenants on ITS PREMISES. But, unfortunately, it is not the case at this SUR 512.

This is easily the worst place that I have ever lived in. The new management team Greystar hasn't done a single thing that the residents have requested. There is frequent package theft, car break-ins, suspicious activity in the parking lot and more. All of the exterior doors to the building are broken so anyone with a pulse can walk right in. In addition to not being able to have locks on doors, there are no security cameras, and we have had a broken elevator in the building for 11 months! Instead of investing in fixing these things, they invested in painting the entire building which inconveniences every resident on a daily basis. I'm sure the reasoning they are focusing on this is because they think they can charge more money if the building is blue and gray instead of brown and beige. Both my upstairs and downstairs neighbors have thrown parties with loud music from 3am to 5am multiple times without the management team doing anything about it. The last thing I will say is an incident I had that should've warned me about Greystar. One month for rent they switched the rent payment system. I paid before we switched and then they started pestering me about my rent. They told me that they "couldn't tell if I paid it or not" so they wanted me to send over proof in my bank account that I paid them. Absolute clownshow of a management team. Moving out in less than a month will be one of the happiest days of my life!
