I’ve been at Camden Lamar Heights for 2 years now and I have never felt this unsafe until now. I moved here knowing about the package theft, but the car break ins are another story. They recently raised the rent by $300, yet they can’t find adequate security to keep our cars from getting broken into? I’ve also noticed that the recent 5-star ratings on this apartment are from employees who work for Camden trying to do damage control to keep the real residents silent. The fact that Camden cares more about its rating on google by paying people to write fake positive reviews is evidence that the staff at Camden does not care about its residents. As much money as we pay here, we deserve better.

I moved here nearly 2 years ago to be closer to work so I wouldn't have a long commute while finishing up grad school. I was excited to be in a larger unit in a newer complex than the previous Camden I transferred from. There were some car break-ins a few short weeks after moving in, which didn't surprise me because it was the holiday season. However, it only managed to get worse from that point. The car theft continued, affecting more and more people as time has gone on. In addition to that, there has been a gnat infestation, 3 months of pressure testing after the 2021 winter storm, the elevator being past inspection for 5 months in 2021, the gate breaking multiple times, and constant package theft. My rent went up about $300 when I renewed and, unfortunately, that was the best available rate for comparable apartments in the area at the time. The Chirp system has been another frustration because the bluetooth doesn't work very well around the parking garage and I had to get a fob just to access various amenities, including the garage. Having to stand in the garage for 5 minutes just to get the door open to be able to check my mail is not ideal and very uncomfortable at night. The security measures Camden continues to reiterate are in place when theft occurs are not effective and I am highly concerned for my safety. I shouldn't feel anxious about leaving or returning to my home for fear of package and car theft. I don't want to move further away, but I'd transfer back to my old Camden if it means I will have greater peace of mind. I don't feel safe living at Camden Lamar Heights and don't believe that I am getting anywhere near my money's worth. It's such a shame because the neighbors are pretty cool and the maintenance staff have always been very helpful. The aesthetic here is "luxury", but the experience is not. Also, yes I know that crime has increased as the city continues to grow and isn't completely preventable. However, my rent went up $300 when I renewed. What has that money gone towards? The only explanation I was given when I asked about the increase was that it was to keep up with the housing market. However, nothing has significantly improved and my sense of safety continues to be reduced. I already route packages to pickup locations in the area or ask the leasing office to slip packages inside my door once delivered. I shouldn't have to go through these additional steps at a "luxury" apartment home. I shouldn't feel unsafe at a "luxury" apartment home. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience living here and am actively looking into all possible options to be able to leave. My safety is far more important to me than simply being close to work and I'm willing to pay more somewhere else if I can feel safer there.

Camden Lamar heights is a wonderful place to live as the apartments are well built and have a modern interior outlook. Maintenance request are taken care quickly. The leasing office staff is very helpful and professional. Special mention to Ms. Patel and Ms. Garcia.

Over the past two years at Camden Lamar Heights, there have been constant car break-ins and package theft. Safety is a concern here. It is quite a noisy complex, especially if you face Lamar or by the pool. My experience grew worse as I was approaching the end of my lease. I was awoken in the middle of the night (3am-6am) several nights in a row by loud neighbors fighting and dropping what seemed like extremely heavy objects. Even after constant messages to Camden staff and management, little was done. I had to end up calling the police. This lead me to end up dreading going to my apartment unit and staying at another apartment complex with a friend the weeks leading up to the end of my lease. At move out, I was charged an absurd amount for carpet replacement when there was no damage done to the carpet ever. I never walked with my shoes on the carpet, but might as well have if they are forcing me to pay such a huge amount. Staff were rude when I inquired about this fee and said there was nothing that could be done even though I recorded a video of the unit's conditions upon move out. Management and staff are not helpful. I thought that Camden would be a quiet and peaceful environment to live in especially as a college student who is studying all day, but I was wrong. I do not recommend this apartment complex. Look elsewhere as rent is increasing in price and move-out fees are expensive and forced on residents.
