Came up here for a day hike. Lifts were working. Mt Baldy was nice and clean. Not sure why it’s so hard for people to dump their trash in the bins.

We may have been lucky, but there were no lines at all when we went at the beginning of March. There were two lifts running, one to a smaller beginner slope and another to top of mountain. The lift to top of the mountain is very small seats with no lap bar— made me a little nervous to ride. Ski rental shop was awesome— very helpful and efficient, moved very quickly.

I couldn't believe that within redius of 30 miles from San Dimas city CA, you could reach such an amazing and breathtaking place. You can enjoy chair lift ride till you reach the skiing resort and try your skills as a beginner or Pro. Or just walk on the snow to tenjoy full feel of chilly winters besides spring season.

It’s a beautiful ride up and down the mountain, especially with all that snow. You can even see the ocean from the top. BUT, it still wasn’t worth the 3 hour crawl driving up the mountain road. I’d say either go first thing in the morning or on a weekday. We went on a weekend and would strongly advise against it.

Mostly manmade. Pretty slick (icy) in many spots. Unless you know how to ski/board in tough conditions, you should probably wait for more snow, or choose a different spot.
Not sure on that ! You can call HWY PATROL to ask
Depends on how quickly the snow melts. Last storm, chains were required after baldy lodge.
It's about 7800 feet around 2000 feet of gain if hiking from the parking lot
If you don't have permits, ranger give you a ticket witch cost 5 dls but you can get the permit at big five store
We are currently Open Fri Sat & Sun until June 14 when we open 7 days a week.
no needed. .
I'm not sure I do not think they need
Yes..until. .April 8 2019😇💕
No. Snow valley and my. Baldy are different. U can not use valley tickets at baldy and u can not use baldy tickets at valley
Yes, it should definitely be snow.
It's open and theirs snow
We are no longer making snow. But we are grooming our snow tubing lanes until April 8.
We are open for snow tubing website hours are accurate
We will be open for snow tubing until April 8. Hope to see you on the mountain.
Not sure, but you can always check the parks and wildlife office
MT. BALDY Should be like Most Other Ski Areas 72 you are old enough to Ski For Free Just Verify with MT BALDY OWNERS IT IS A COMMON SKI COURTEOUSY
Dunno the current hours but they were closed when I was there last Wed so give them a call!
I believe the ski resort closed already ... We went tubing there on the last day April 11th. And there was not much snow at all except at the Tubing park which was man made for the Tubbing area. Ticket 4 running park was $45 per person. Not sure for the sky lift. The chair ride there had no snow in that area either. But either way snow or no snow it's still a very beautiful get away... Especially now in spring 😁 Hope I was able to answer ur question ....
Best to go to Big Bear or Wrightwood if you want snow play. Baldy is extremely limited and overcrowded.
Riding the lift up to see the views from the top and playing the snow isn't unforgettable experience, but as the previous poster said, you need reservations in advance. It can be crowded on weekends, especially after a snow day, so come early.
Good question and that's very typical. Not just Mt. Baldy but most companies. I ski'd there this week before latest storm and was told by a very well informed person that they're having trouble getting people to work the operation. You're going to have to go for it and if it doesn't work out I've also heard they've been good about crediting you with another day. Not sure about refunds.
Yes
There are sites for rent up by the lodge.
We were there yesterday for the first time. I would say, with the forecasted weather it would be too late. But give them a call
I doubt you can change
No, they are not. Dogs are not permitted in tubes or on the chair lift.
There was snow last weekend. It doesn't look like there is from the bottom of the mountain but I was surprised once I got up there. Pretty sure there are still 3 out of 4 lifts open and my friends and I had fun there.
Yes
Yes but you have to go this week otherwise it will no stay longer
Yes there is
Yes there was snow on Sunday 12/29
Yes plenty
Entrance to parking area is free. Parking cost $5. Entrance lift to resort is not free. U must purchase 1 of the 4passes to get onto resort entrance lift. Either lift pass for ski/snowboarding, tubing pass, scenic pass or wristband pass.
Should be but it will be cold
No. But if u plan to snowboard or ski, u should buy tickets in advance online. it's cheaper this way
Check online. For skiing/snowboarding it will depend on how far in advance u buy tickets, age of person, if u need rental equipment or if u need lessons. If u want to just go up to play in the snow, then u buy a wristband at ticket office for $5. Wristband price is same for everyone. There is also different price if u want to ride in tubing area. I don't know this price because I have never got tickets for tubing but it's also on link below https://mtbaldyskilifts.ltibooking.com
Yes.
Maybe
There is just one road in and out. However. If you take the road to the very end. There is a large clearing with lots of parking.
Where's the best place to just pull over and enjoy the scenery and snow ? I'm not interested in skiing or tubing I just wanna take my kids to experience the snow ..
Yes
Typically 7:30am. Winter weather may effect opening time.
And
Now there is a lot of snow on the mountain, and skiing is so good in the spring. It is still open to go sledding.
No. Roads are clear and dry.
Went up today. Dry roads & nothing compared to going to Big Bear curves on 18. Fun & still plenty of snow.
Snowcrest Lodge is 1/8 mile below parking lot & some of the many cabins I believe are open. Very cool remodel job. Otherwise Baldy Village but not sure what's there. Claremont would be close but then you have to drive up to ski lifts.
From the website: "Must be at least 40″ tall and able to load and unload the lift on their own."
Yes!! Is okay. However get your chains just in case you need them!!!
SORRY CAN'T HELP YOU THERE.
Only at the top when we visited in late December
NO, unless a new storm has hit just be on the watch out for the weather up there.
No
Hello, We do have a lodge where for Mom to sit while the kids ski and ride however it is located at the top of the mountain. A scenic lift ticket purchase is necessary to get the lodge. Tickets are $25 at the door and are available online at a discount. Yes - Boots are available for rent on their own.
Yes
Yes they are now open 7 days a week
Nope. We took thermos for our child's food.
Yes they are open, the lifts are open and it's open for skiing. See website https://winter.mtbaldyresort.com
The website will probably have all that info and if not maybe a FAQ area. The prices are listed in the website https://winter.mtbaldyresort.com/tubing-park/
Only up near Baldy Bowl and the ski hut there is and the higher peaks and most likely at Top of the Notch. Down below near Manker Flats and the Village where thr lodge is there is no snow, Buckhorn bridge and ice house trail head showed no snow. I just looked at the webcam images today.
You can go on there website to get availability and prices for tent cabins.
Included in lift ticket or tubing purchase
Thebround trip fir the single day only.
Yes, absolutely. We honor the cash value of what you paid toward any of our summer products. We look forward to seeing you.
Big Bear and Mt. Baldy. All of the resorts are closed now, other than Mammoth. For Mt. Baldy we have put in a learning center with an instructor for snowboarding and skiing. We are planning on expanding the size of the center for next winter.
Not likely unless there's a major storm and/or they pull out the snow making machines...other than that, change the date to Dec. 17 and then on.
Thats a mega bummer..i have 4 vouchers i still needed to use
If you get the parking lot by no later than 10am you should be fine. The earlier you arrive the better the experience. We open at 8am
You can not drive to the tubing area. The lift is the primary means of getting there. There is also a 3 mile trail that is commonly used by hikers that can be utilized.
2 person maximum per chair. Must be 40” tall to ride
There is absolutely no snow on the road, or anywhere accessible by road. The warm weather, wind, and rain melted it all. Rock slides are possible.
Check the website. I was up yesterday without chains.
There has been snow at the base of the ski lift area this year 2018. It usually gets a lot of snow after a cold rainy day. But if you wait too long, like a weekend passes by, you will only get the snow that the snow plows push to the side...I've been coming to Mt. Baldy for 10+ years, usually Jan thru March...you'll get a chance to play in the snow.
Yes just to be sure ...
As early as you can to be the first. Is open at 8 am.
If you like tubing on gravel and dirt then it would be an amazing place to go
There are special machines which make like real snow. You won't notice the difference
Better not. It will be hard to hold him safely during the slide. I don't recommend it
Kids will love it. You can do it together in the same tube if u wish. But I saw small kids 5 & 6 years old do it alone. In climbing back with the tube they will need help though
Parking is free, right now not a lot of snow, I would recommend snow valley resort or summit on big bear
You will be fine. Steep Mountain switch backs just for a few miles and snow is generally not in that area.
Yes. There was one lift going a couple of weeks ago. There maybe more runs open after the storm last week.
Yes - a fee to get up the mountain (unless your kids are under 40 inches, then you have to walk, no option), then another fee for any of the activities on top of the mountain
$20 for a roundtrip ride, there is a restaurant and great views. This time of year there is snow tubing and skiing which you can buy packages for
The tubes are there, if you pay for the tubing park then the tubes are included.
Not quite. Need to pay 35.00 to play in the man-made stuff. Dry season. Snow next week though...
best option is to call Department of Public Works, or US Forestry Service. supposedly was closed thru 1/3/2018 due to red flag warning & high wind advisory, but I'm not sure of current state.
I called and called and no one picked up. Their voicemail box is also full and I was not able to leave a message and call back number.
Unless dangerous icy conditions occur, the trails generally remain open all winter. With that said, be advised that Mt. Baldy and the surrounding hiking trails become very dangerous during snowy/icy/windy conditions. If there is visible snow on the mountain, use extreme prejudice. Without training or knowledge of mountaineering or fall arrest, you could be risking your life. Many aerial rescues and deaths occur during these conditions every year. There are many trails lower on the mountain that are great alternates, including Icehouse Canyon, Claremont Loop, Potato Mountain, Sunset Peak and more. Enjoy!
Not currently, except for a small amount of manufactured snow at the tubing park, open weekends.
There will not be any substantial snow around Jan. 5th, aside from the manufactured snow in the tubing park.
Yes, the base chair lift is generally open year-round except for during times of high winds or thunderstorms. Make sure you bring warm clothes, it's cold at the top!
don't call, look at their website for up to date information
Potentially, depending on how much snow there is. If the snow is fresh and there is a substantial amount, then yes, expect needing chains or 4WD. If its not actively snowing and has been more than 12 hours since major snowfall, then the roads should be cleared and chains are usually not required.
Mt. Baldy isn't a great place to 'park and play in the snow'. There is little parking and a minimal amount of open flat area for snowplay. Also be aware of heavy traffic congestion after snow storms, and a lack of vehicle services on the mountain, like fuel. Your best bet for snowplay in Baldy (after a snowstorm) is Manker Flats, which is at the top of the switchbacks, just before the ski lift parking lot. Be aware of dangerous road conditions or road closures if you attempt to drive up within 12 hours of a snowstorm. Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead are good alternates for snowplay, and Big Bear tends to have more snow than other SoCal mountain resorts.
February is generally the best month for snow access in Baldy. For the best conditions, head up within 48 hours of recorded rain in SoCal... and be prepared!
Yes but not for skiing. It is a nice fall day here in Baldy! Enjoy and bring a jacket.
