Best to go to Big Bear or Wrightwood if you want snow play. Baldy is extremely limited and overcrowded.

Not really. You need to take a chairlift to top and there is a charge for that.
Hello. Not at the resort at the top. That is for patrons of the resort. Below, on the drive up, yes, but it can get crowded and VERY messy. But be prepared for mountain driving. If you do not have chains on, and it is snow/ice conditions, please STAY HOME. It is not safe if you are not comfortable with mountain driving in possible snowy/windy conditions. They have closed the roads before, and they will do it again. That is not fun (having access denied) for those who know how to, and have the ability to drive in snow to be shut out due to inexperienced drivers. Big Bear has snow, as well, and lots of snow play areas, and the roads are much easier to drive on.
