Spent a few days relaxing. Rented a cabin; it was decent. Great views of the Missouri River. Recommend the Country Cafe for meals. Pictures: sunset from our cabin (4); flood damage from 2019, bridge washed out. Google maps shows the washed out former rail bridge is accessible from the east side via a dirt road. You can drive down the road but not access the bridge. If you try it, use a high clearance four wheel drive.

Nice campground quiet respectful campers. Have ice machine, bundles of wood, clean pay showers 25 cents for three minutes and restrooms are clean. Water fill station, fill up there before going to your site! Dump station. Trees are nice had shade. Water spigot near by sites. Extra day fee $8.00 for campground. Cabins are really nice, Queen bed in one bedroom and four bunk beds in other bedroom. Bathroom with shower. Full kitchen and living room with couch and chair TV in living room. Screened in porch, grill out back. Beautiful views of the Missouri River. Deer, wild turkeys. Cabins named after Indigenous warriors. Plethora of hiking paths. Nice 3 mile drive with beautiful views. Selfi stations to take photos with beautiful views.

Just returned from a trip to Niobrara State Park. We stayed in cabin #8 which has a wonderful view off to the east. This park has views for miles, amazing sunrises and sunsets and plenty to do for adults and kids, alike. Two critical flaws kept me from giving a five-star rating. 1. The cabins do not have fire pits. They do have outdoor grills, but these are no substitute for a "real" fire pit. 2. Whoever determined the placement of the two cross pieces in the windows of the screened porch (first photo) didn't take into account the average height of a seated adult. The top cross piece blocked the river from view. I'm pretty sure I understand the purpose of the cross pieces (to keep people from sitting in the window sills and leaning against the screens), but the same thing could have been accomplished without blocking the view. Beyond that, a lovely, scenic park with neat and tidy cabins, tent & RV camping and even a swimming pool. One final note, if you plan to hike down to the old railroad bridge, you'll need to change your plans. The bridge appears to have been washed away and "death and injury" signs are posted at the trailhead.

Absolutely beautiful park! I can’t speak of the trails, as we just camped here overnight, but it was an exceptionally beautiful view from campsite number seven overlooking the river. It seemed each campsite was large and private, and the park seem to be a very peaceful place. Of course, we were there during the week, so maybe that was part of it! Our campsite had a view of the old bridge that went over the river, and I have to say I was slightly disappointed that the trail to the entrance of the bridge was closed. Sometime recently the bridge had collapsed, due to flooding, I think, and I’m guessing it is considered danger, but it would been cool to be able to see it up close. Overall, I would absolutely come back to this park if I was in the area.

First time camping at NIobrara: Can I do walk up, or do I need to reserve a camp site? And if so, how do I go about reserving a spot with a tent, not a camper. The website is a little confusing to me. Thanks.

If you are going to stay on a trailer pad so you can have water and electricity, then calling ahead to reserve a spot would be the best. If you are wanting a spot without water and electricity, you should be able to get a spot without any problems. I would still call ahead in advance, or go online to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission's website to reserve a spot.
