This is one of our favorite camp sites and lakes to visit. Great for kayaks, paddle boards and mountain bicycling. Do be prepared for the bus loads of kids that come for camp fun. They can get a little noisy with excitement!
Blackwell Family
We live local and love bringing our kids here! Great place to cool off in the heat. We bring our own SUPs but I believe they have some to rent there! We saw they just added a playground for children, it wasn't open quite yet as it looks like they're waiting for concrete to settle but we're excited for the new addition for our children.
Carefree Spas
Great water and trails for biking and hiking. The surrounding views were wonderful. Water sports in warm weather.

Camping in the off season here is glorious. I have been the only one on site for days. Fabulous trails to hike with your dog - washer/dryer/bathroom and hot showers too. No electrical hook ups but there is access to water. Not bad for $21/night. Note that in addition to the nightly price, you have to either have a daily park pass or annual. It’s also a bird watcher paradise. I’ve seen red tailed hawks, bald eagles and so many owls (keep a close eye on your small dogs). The office is y always open but when it is, the staff is beyond helpful. Got my Colorado State Park pass and will be coming back here again and again!

Yes you can fish there. There is also another lake in the park called Mack Mesa open for fishing.
Generaly not but it's a holiday weekend get there early for the good spots. You might call the ranger shack and het some info.
Not technically, anywhere in public is illegal. However this is Colorado.. I'd say smoke at your own risk
That last answer above this one is pretty much spot on. The campground is pleasant and you can set up tents in any of the reserved spaces.
